- This invention relates to containers for paper articles and particularly to a container or receptacle for displaying and dlspenslng goods comprising sheets of paper contained therein in suitable layers.

An object of the present invention is to provide a receptacle that will enclose and protect the goods, permit inspection of the code and also enable the goods to be w1thdrawn separately and individually from the rece tacle without disturbing the remainder of the goods.

Briefly, and in its preferred aspect, my invention may include the following principal parts A rectangular box-like receptacle preferably having its sides and ends retained permanently in position as bypasting in the -usual manner; second, narrow cut-out portions on one of the larger surfaces through which the ,goods are visible and may be inspected; and thir a fpartially separated portion of the lat r sur ace intercepting the above openings and which, when removed, provides an opening 'oining the narrow cutout portions and ena les a user to manually grasp and withdraw one or more .of the 1 sheets contained within the receptacle.

the box or receptacle 1 0 constitutes no part of the present invention they will not be of such size that it will closely fit the goods to be displayed and dispense Cut into one of the front or wider surfaces of the receptacle 10 are narrow openings 13, one on each side of the center, the outer ends of these openings terminating at opposite edges of the surface in which the openings are cut. These openings 13 are in alignment with each other and of suitable width to permit ready withdrawal of the sheets 14 in a manner presently to be described.

In the central portion of the surface in which the openings 13 are cut is a portion 15 partially separated or cut so that it may be easily torn away about its periphery or outline. The form of this opening provided by tearin away the material within the outlineof this portion 15 is such that it will accommodate the fingers of a user rasping and withdrawing the, sheets 14 from the receptacle 10. The lateral extensions of this portion 15 adapted to be torn out extend to and intercept the rlateral 'narrow openings 13 referred to above.

With the portion 15 in place prior to its being torn out, the goods 14: are fully'protected from falling out and may be seen through the lateral narrow openings. With this portion 15 in place the goods 14 may be shipped within the receptacle 10 and placed on isplay upon a counter or shelf. The purchaser receives the receptacle 10 with the portion 15 in place, the portion thus acting as a seal to indicate the goods are in the same condition as when packed. Upon tearing out the central portion 15 ample space is (provided for the user to grasp the goods in ividually, and through the openin formed by tearing away the portion 15 and the lateral narrow openings 13 the goods may be withdrawn singly or in pairs. This may be done without disturbing the unused portions of the goods remaining within the receptacle.

To indicate the place to start the tearing away of the central portion 15, arrows or triangles '16 may-be printed upon this portion, together with any desired information as to methods'of using the contents.

What I claim is 1. A receptacle comprising a box-like ,en-

closure having lateral narrow openings within one of its surfaces, and a partially cut portion of said surface centrally disposed and intercepting said lateral openin 5 whereby said central portion may be readi y detached to provide an opening extending memos ly greater Width than said openings intercepting said lateral openings whereb said central portion may be readily detaclied to provide an elongated opening extending, from one end to the other of the receptacle, the central portion enabling a user to grasp and individually withdraw the goods con- "tained within the receptacle.

3. A receptacle comprising a boxlike enclosure having separated narrow openings formed within one of its surfaces, the outer ends intercepting the end walls of the receptacle, and a relatively widerv portion of said surface centrally disposed and intercepting said spaced openin s partially cut from said receptacle where y said central portion may be readily detached to provide a continuous opening extending from end to end of the receptacle formed of a sin le folded i ily detached to provide a'continuous opening extending from end to end of the receptacle through which individual pieces of said folded material may be grasped and separately withdrawn from the receptacle.
