RAZOR-STROP.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Mar. 22, 1910.
Application filed October 29, 1908. Serial No. 460,022.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MERRICK A. MIHILLS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Highland Park, in the county of Lake and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Razor-Strops, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in razor strops; and the object of my improvements is to provide a razor strop having a handle containing a case or receptacle for a razor.

Referring to the drawing in detailThe reference numeral 7 represents the strop the greater portion of which is broken away in Fig. 1. Secured to one end of the strop by stitches 8 is a loop 9 carrying a bale 10 having a swivel 11 for connection with a wall hook or the like. Secured to the opposite end of the strop, preferably by stitches 12 is a handle 14 the exterior of which comprises a front member 15 and rear member 16, of leather or other suitable material, and having their side edges secured together by stitches 18. Said rear member is provided at its outer end with an extension or flap 19 adapted, when folded as shown in Fig. 1, to close the open end of the handle and to be connected with the front member of the handle by a clasp 20 or other suitable fastening. Arranged between the members 15 and 16 is a concavo-convex reinforcing member 22 made of sheet metal or the like, the convex side being preferably rearward whereby an opening 24 is formed between the member 15 and the front of the handle to receive a razor. However this member may be placed against the front of the handle and still serve the same purpose or one of these reinforcing members may be placed against both the side and back handle members forming the pocket thus giving additional protection to the razor and at the same time forming a firm hand grip for the razor strop handle. The member 22 is tapered, its larger end being placed toward the opening of the pocket, this member also has right angle flanges 25 on each side, these flanges are intended to fit into or against the seams formed by the stitching 18, in order through friction to hold said members 22 firmly into their proper positions.
The rear face of the strop is preferably provided with corrugations running across and at right angles to each other as shown in Fig. 5 or with single corrugations formed across and at a right angle to the strop as may be desired. The purpose of these corrugations is to provide the strop with a sharpening surface which will eliminate the necessity of using a webbing in connection with the strop as is usually done with ordinary leather strops.
Both sides of the strop are treated with carborundum to increase their efliciency.
l/Vhat I claim, is-
A device of the character described consisting of a razor strop, apocket formed on the bottom thereof, said pocket having its opening at its lower end and a flap for closing same, a concave-convex reinforcing member located within said pocket, said reinforcing member tapering and having right angle flanges thereon for the purpose described.
