UNITED STATES PATENT OFF-ICE;
EDWARD A. DUBEY, OF BROOKLYN, NEXV YORK.
SAND, EMERY, OR ANALOGOUS PAPER OR CLOTH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 449,930, dated April 7, 1891.
Application filed July 1, 1890. Serial No. 357,412. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD A. DUBEY, a
' resident of the city of Brooklyn, Kings county,
and State of New York, have invented an Improved Sand, Emery, or Analogous Paper or Cloth, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new construction of sand-paper, its object being to supply to one person on one sheet sundry grades of sand or emery paper.
The invention mainly consists of a sheet of paper having Well defined and divided uncovered grooves or creases between sections that are covered with varying kinds of sand, emery, or like abrading substance.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a face view of a sheet of sand-paper constructed according to my invention. Fig. 2is an end or edge view of the same, and Fig. 3 a perspective View showing how the sheet can be folded.
A is a sheet of paper of suitable size. The same is provided with uncovered narrow portions to b c, which form creases or grooves, and with covered sections d e f, d e fiwhich are covered with sand, emery, or abrading substance.
the same time, he being able so to fold the sheet that the surfaces may either have the same kind of grain or difierent kinds of grain exposed for action at one time.
Instead of paper, cloth may be used as a foundation for this fabric.
What I claim is- 1. A sheet of sand-paper or the like having on its surface sections covered, respectively, with varying grades of abrading substance.
2. A sheet of sand-paperhaving uncovered creases between sections that are covered with abradin g substance, substantially as specified.
