:Mrnovnp rms-HOLDER. y
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part ofthe same. f
To all whom 'it 'muy concern.: y
Be it known that' I, EDWARD M. JDD, of Wolcottville, in the county ofLitchield, and State of Connecticut, haveinvented and made acertain new and useful Improvement in Twine-Holders; and I do hereby declarethe following to be afull, clear, and exact de` l .scription of thesaid invention, reference being had to Y the annexed drawing, making part of this specification,
whereini Y Y Figure 1 is a side elevation of said twine-holder,
partially'open; l y Figure@ is a verticalisection of the downwardlyprojecting stud and bracket; and y n Figure 3 is aplan ofthe same.` f v Similar marks of reference denote the same parts. Twine-holdershave heretofore beenmade toistand upon j thev counter '0r-table; they have also been sus- 'pended by a. ring at the upper end..A It frequently happens, howeventhat the most convenient place foriy a twine-holder is against a partition, a. post, or
some vertical surface.
i My present invention is to-meetthe said IWant, and consists in aftwine-holdegformed of two half shells,`
to the bottom one of` which isa projecting stud, in
combination with a socket, to be -secured to aparti- Ytonor other vertical support, so that the lower part. `ofthe twine-holderwll be properlyvsupported in the desired position, but theitop half of the shell may be 4opened o'r turned back', to. allow of introducing or withxlrawing-the ball of twine, thusallowing the` twine -holder to be placed inthe desired position, and facill itating the insertionor withdrawal' of the ball of twine.
In the drawingi a; is the lower, and b the upper halves or shells of the'twiriefholder.
These are united by the hinge at c, and a peg,d,
andpin, i, may be used to hold the parts together, when
closed. f y
These shells a and b may be formed of. any desired character of open-work metal, and of a hemisphercal forni. v 4
Upon one side of the shell a is the downward-projecting stud e, cast thereon, and this is of a size to t the verticahhole in the socket j', that isv adapted tov being screwed upona partition orA post, or in a vertieal position.
There may be two or more sockets j, litted at `con- Venient places, so that the twine-holder can be moved from one place to another, as required, and the twine is to be led out through an opening in one of the shells a or b; l
What I clai1n, and desire to secure by Letters Pat` ent `is '1i-he twine-holder, formed of two half` shells, tothe bottom one of -WhiehV the downward-projecting stud e is connected, in combination with the socket f, substantially as and foi the purposes set forth.
In witness whereof, I have lhereunto Aset my signature, this 6th day of March, A. D. 1869.
