The horizontal arm" `of one member has secured therein a rod, which is slidable in the horizontal arm of 4theother member, and retained in, adjusted position by a set screw 29. The frame supports a fabric cover 31 wh'oselower free edge is provided with an elastic cord 32 extend- `ing the full width'of the frame. The roller .permits the side. plate to slide easily inwardly or outwardly, and when the bed is in proper position, the set screw will prevent-further movement of the side plates.

A device of the class described, coinprising a casing having an open back, guide ways on the sides of the casing, adjacent. to the back, a bed frame .comprising hinged sections,'said frame being provided at one end with trunnions engaging the guide ways, a shaft journaled'in the casing above the guide ways, and provided with means for.-

rotating the same outside of the Casin(r ratchet wheel on the shaft,'a pawl engaging the wheel for preventing, rotation of the shaft in one direction, cords winding upon the shaft and connectedwith the bed frame,

and means engaging trunnions for retaining the bed'in adj usted position.
