To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, \NILLIAM'SCHWEIT- ZER and IIARRY HAMILTON LABADIE, citizens of the United States, and residentsof Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have jointly'in'vented certain new.

and useful Improvements in One- Piece Bags; and we do hereby declare that the following description of our said invention, taken in connection with the accompanying sheet of drawings, forms a full, clear, and exact specification, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention has general reference to improvements in traveling-bags, samplecases, and analogous containers; and it consists, essentially, in the novel and peculiar combination of parts and details of construction, as hereinafter first fully set forth and described, and then pointed out in the claims.

The object of this invention is the production of a traveling-bag, sample-case and analogous devices from a single piece of material. To attain this object we construct this bag as shown in the drawings already referred to in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a traveling-bag constructed in accordance with our invention. Fig. 2 is a plan of the blank em-' ployed in the construction of this bag.

Like parts are designated by corresponding symbols of reference in both figures.

As seen in Fig. 2, this bag is constructed from a single piece of leather or other suitable material, the rectangular, central, portion A, bounded by the dotted lines a,a, and the solid lines j, j, forming the bottom of the bag, while the rectangular portions B, B, defined by the dotted lines a, b, c, c on the one side of the central portion A, and a, Z), c, and 0 on the opposite sideof said central portion A, form the sides of said bag. and then these flanges are sewn to the bottom A, when the bag proper is ready to be applied to the bag-frame G in the usual manner.

By constructing a traveling, or samplebag of a single piece of material, we produce an exceedingly strong, durable and serviceable article which is very attractive in appearance, and forms a very desirable article of manufacture.

It is evident that this bag may be sup plied with all the necessary appurtenants,

such as a carryinghandle, catches, a lock, &c., as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1. It is further evident that thebag proper will be suitably lined in the customary manner, and that this lining is affixed to the outer bag-member inany desired manner.

Having thus fully described this invention, we claim as new, and desire to secure to us by Letters Patent of the United States- 1. A traveling-bag comprising a bag proper and a bag-frame, said bag proper being formed from a single piece of material, said piece comprising a bottom-section,

two side-sections adjoining to the bottom 1 section; two top-sectlons ad oining the s1de-' sections; four end-sections adjoining the said side-sections, and four gussetsectmns sald gusset-sections being located at the upper portion of the sides of the bag only, and inwardly-turned after the bag is completed adjoining the end-sections and the top-sections, said several sections being folded, and the outer edges of the end-sections and the gusset-sections being sewn together, the l ends of the side-sections only, said several Wholebeing secured to said bag-frame as, and for the object specified.

2. A traveling bag comprising a bag frame and a body, the latter being formed from a'single piece of material comprising a rectangular bottom-section, two rectangular side-sections adjoining the bottom section, two trapezoidal top-sections adjoining the side-sections, four curved gusset-sections projecting from the converging sides of the top-sections, and four end-sections adjoining the side-sections and the gusset-sections, said gusset-sections being adapted to form inwardly-projecting gussets at the upper i sections being folded and the outer edges of the end-sections and the curved gusset-sections being sewn to ether to afii'ord a single seam at the sides ot the bag.
