To all whom "it may concern:

Be it known that I, LoRuNZo SABINE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Hunting-Coat, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to an improvement in hunting coats in which the lining of the coat is bisected horizontally at or near the middle of the garment, and the upper portion of the lining carries and sustains by means of detachable supports, the lower part of the lining in which is contained a reversible waterproof game pocket; and suspenders fixed in the lining in such a manner as to throw the weight of the filled pocket upon the shoulders alone; and the objects of my improvement are, first, to provide a hunting coat with a game pocket or receptacle of waterproof material thereby preventing the appearance of blood stains upon the outside of the coat and also protecting the other clothing from like stains coming from within: second, to add to the life of a coat which on account of unsightly stains is often discarded before it is worn out: third, to provide a hunting coat with a game pocket or receptacle made completely reversible, thus exposing to view the waterproof material which can be easily sponged or washed and kept in a clean and sanitary condition: fourth, to throw the weight and pull of the filled pocket entirely upon the shoulders so as not to impede the free and easy use of the arms in raising the gun to position.

I attain these objects by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1, is an elevation showing the in side of one'half of the coat; the other half being an exact duplicate is not shown. Fig. 2, is an elevation showing the inside of onehalf of the coat with the lower edge of the upper half of the bisected lining turned upward at the line of the bisection and showing the loops and buttons which close and hold together as one piece the two sections of the bisected lining. Fig. 3, is an elevation of the inside of the back of the coat with dotted lines showing the manner of stitching the suspenders to the underside of the lining beginning at the shoulder seams, and the solid lines show the suspenders continuing below the portion of the lining shown as cut away. To the ends of the suspenders are attached loops which close over buttons 011 the upper edge of the lower half of the bisected lining.

Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.

The lining of the coat is bisected along the line A, B, in Fig. 1. The entire portion of the bisected lining in the upper part of the coat above the line A, B, is designated by the letter F and the lower portion of the lining by the letter G. The bisection starts from the front edge of the coat at the point A and follows the general direction of the line A, B entirely around the coat to a corresponding point at the front edge of the other half of the garment. The upper section F of the bisected lining and its lower section G- are sewed together through the facing E, but the edges are left open and free entirely around the coat from theinner edge of one facing to the inner edge of the other. This free edge of the upper part F of the coat lining above the line of bisection overlaps by about an inch more or less the lower part of said lining. On the under side of the flap thus formed wire loops are firmly secured which engage buttons attached to the upper edge of the lower part G, of the bisected lining. See Fig. 2 in which C, C, C, are the wire loops and D, D, D, the buttons. By thus bisecting the lining of the coat, I secure the complete reversibility of the whole lower part of the garment which can be turned inside out. All this lower part of the coat below the line of bisection constitutes the game pocket or receptacle and being completely reversible and lined with a waterproof material, it is rendered cleanable and sanitary. This pocket also has the usual openings or entrance through the front edges of the coat.

Suspenders H, H, Fig. 3 cut with the warp, that is, lengthwise with the goods, start from the shoulder seams at their highest, point K, K, Fig. 8.. They cross each other obliquely downward and are stitched to the under side of the upper portion of the bisected lining F but leaving about an inch of free end at their lower extremity. To these free ends wire loops C, C, are attached which engage the buttons D, D, thus supporting the game pocket.

Suspenders cut with the warp of the goods only and stitched fast to the lining in a direction crossing obliquely both the warp and woof of the lining relieve the general surface of the lining from the sag and pull of the loaded game pocket and transmit the weight along the suspenders to the shoulders alone.

I am aware that prior to my invention hunting coats have been made with the lower part of the coat constituting a game pocket. I, therefore, do not claim such a combination broadly; but,

I claim,

1. A new article of manufacture comprising a hunting coat, the lower portion of which has a water-proof game pocket extending from one side to the other side of the coat, the lining of said coat being bisected from one side to the other across the back of the garment to permit said waterproof pocket to be turned inside out, and means for holding the bisected lining to gether, substantially as and for the purposes specified.

2. A new article of manufacture, comprising a hunting coat having a reversible water-proof game pocket in the lower portion thereof, extending from one side to the other, the lining of said coat being bisected from one side to the other on a line coinciding substantially with the top of the water-proof game pocket, and whereby said game pocket may be reversed for cleansing, means for securing the bisected lining when the game pocket is in a serviceable position, and obliquely crossed suspenders stitched to the upper portion of the lining throughout their lengths, and extending from the shoulders of the coat to the bisection of the lining, said suspenders having means for attachment with the bisected edge of the lining inclosing the game pocket, substantially as specified.
