FENCE-COUPLING.
Application filed .August 13, 1908.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JosIAI-r IVILLIAMS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kingiisher, in the county of Kingfisher and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fence- Couplings; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to fences and particularly to coupling the respective sections.
The object oi' the invention is to provide a tencel in sections with ends so arranged that they may be easily connected to the posts and coupled together intermediate the posts without any great inconvenience, such as splicing the parts together.
lV ith these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement ot parts, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 is a top plan view.
Referring more especially to the drawings l and Q represent two posts which are separated a considerable distance and are supposed to have a plurality of posts intermediately arranged. Secured to the posts are suitable loops 8, which are adapted to be engaged by similar loops 4, formed on the :tence wire sections 5. These loops are formed at each end of the sections, as shownand may be made in any suitable manner as by forming a loop and twisting the loose end around the wire in which the loop is formed. Vhen the sections meet intermediate the posts they are secured together by the coupling rods 6, as shown. This construction enables rapid operation and permits the sections to be removed where it is desired to pass through Specification of Letters Patent.

from one field into another with a wagon. Frequently the wires are cut and considerable expense is entailed in iXing them again, or the traveler has to go a considerable distance to find a gate through which he may pass.
I wish it to be understood that my fence is constructed of crossed horizontal and vertical wires and after the coupling rod 6 has been inserted in the single inner loops oi both of the horizontal wires, the single inner loops of one of the horizontal wires are bent upwardly and downwardly against the coupling rod whereby the same is held in proper position and prevented from having a downward movement through the loops.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A fence comprising posts with detachable loops thereon, a sectional tence panel constructed of horizontal and vertical wires, the horizontal wires having single loops at opposite ends, the outer ones of which are secured to said loops on the posts, a detachable coupling rod slidably mounted in the loops at the inner ends of the horizontal wires and the single loops on the inner ends of the horizontal wires of one section being bent upwardly and downwardly toward one another to hold the coupling rod in position above the ground and also prevent downward movement of the same, substantially as speciiied.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOSIAH VILLIAMS.
