[Nl/ENTOR t M BY CHARLES R. EADS, OF FORNLEELT, MISSOURI.
RAZOR-STRG? HOLDER.
Application filed November 6, 1909.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLEs R. EADS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fornfelt, in the county of Scott and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Razor-Strop Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying` drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in devices for attaching or suspending` the razor strops and it has for its object the provision of a simple and inexpensive device adapted for use in suspending razor strops in such manner as to permit of free movement, thus insuring the strop being held in proper position for use at any angle without the use of screws, nails or other permanent attaching devices, the strop being at all times held a sufficient distance from the wall or fixture to lwhich it is attached to permit its being operated with ease and safety.
The invention relates further to the peculiar form of the strop supporting hook which would permit of the ready detachment of the strop from the hook and at the same time avoid the possibility of its being accidentally detached.
The invention is fully illustrated in the accompanying drawing which, with the letters of reference marked thereon, forms a part of this specification and in which Figure l is a perspective view of a razor strop holder constructed in accordance with my invention, the same being shown as attached to the wall. Fig. 2 is a central vertical section taken through the device, and Fig. 3 is a detail in perspective of the hook removed.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a strip or keeper of sheet metal, the body portion B of which I have shown of rectangular form having its ends bent upward as shown at C, C to form journal bearings for the transverse shaft D upon which is sleeved or hinged the end of the metallic bracket E, the body portion E of which extends hori- Zontally a sufficient distance from the body portion of the bracket to remove the same Specification of Letters Patent.

from contact with the wall and permit the free movement of the same. The portion F of the bracket is bent at right angles to the body portion and is provided with an opening F for the reception of a screw or nail for attaching the deviceto a wall or other point.
rIhe body portion B of the metallic strip or keeper A is concave-convex and at the apex of the concaved depression upon the upper side of the keeper is provided an opening B to receive the upper end of the shank of the strop suspending hook G, the extreme upper end of which is provided with a semi-spherical head H, which head being seated in the depression formed in the upper face of the keeper forms a ball and socket joint connection for the hook with the keeper.
The hook G, it will be noted, is provided with an enlarged loop portion J above which the free end of the hook is bent inward and extended upwardly, thus forming a narrow or contracted space K to receive the ring of the razor strop.
From the foregoing description, the operation and advantages of the device will be at once understood. The clip or supporting bracket arm which serves to suspend the device from the wall is of such form as to insure the strop being at all times held a suflicient distance from the point at which it is attached to the wall to permit the free movement of the hook to which the strop is attached wit-hout contacting with the wall. The form of the hook is such as to permit the ready attachment of the strop to the hook and at the same time prevent the possible accidentaldetachment of the strop when in use. By the use of this device, the use of a string or cord, which would be likely to wear out or break, knot or twist, is avoided, the strop being attached directly to the hook of the attaching device.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim to be new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l. In a device of the character described, a member adapted to be secured to a point of attachment, a keeper hinged thereto, the body portion of the keeper being concaved to receive the semi-spherical head of a hook suspended beneath the keeper and designed to engage the rin@ of a razor strop, substantially as described.
2. In combination with a bracket adapted to be attached to L vertical surface and having a horizontally extended portion7 :L keeper having hinged connection with the outer edge of said horizontal portion of the bracket, the body portion of Said keeper being ooneavo-oonvex and having its ends bent at right angles to the body portion to provide journals for the ends of the hinged connection between the keeper and bracket l0 of :L hook, the shank portion of Which isv provided at its upper end with n senii- Spherical head seated Within the eoneaved portion of the keeper, substantially as described.
In testimony whereofl l hereunto ailiX iny 15 signature in the presence of tWo Witnesses.
