Letters Patent No. 94,422, (lated August 31, 1869.
The Schedule referred t0 in 'these Letters Patent:V and making palt 0f the Same- To whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM E. L UDLOW, of Gincinnati, Hamilton county, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Basket-Rest; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference. being had`to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specication.
This invention relates to a rest or platform, adapted, for temporaryapplication, to any ladder having dat steps.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my rest, detached from the ladder.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of a portion of a ladder, provided with my improvement, the rest being seen from its under side.
Figure 3 is a bottom view of my rest, in position on a step.
My rest compnses a circular board, A, to whose nnder surface are attached two oppositel y-pontin g hooks or spurs, B B,which being engaged overk opposite edges of the step, and the rest partially rotated in the direction ot' the arrow, grasp the step firmly.
When desired, the release ofthe step is Aeffected by a simple retrograde turn of the same.
It will be seen that this rest, \vl1ile effective, is of very cheap and simple construction, and its circular form enables a person to ascend or descend the ladder without difficulty.
