DRESS-SHIELD DEVICE.

To all whom "it may concern:

Be it known that I, Rosa T. Grimm), citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Dress-Shield Devices, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference be ing had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.

My invention relates to dress shield devices, and its principal object is to provide a simple, practical and inexpensive construction of dress shield device, which shall be easy to wear, inexpensive to make, and which shall render it unnecessary to attach dress shields to the waist or other dress garment and then detach them when desired to wash the shields.

By my device, the shields are independently supported, and they can be applied and removed from the person independently of any dress garment, so that not only can they be washed separately without having to detach them from the garment, but at the same time, the same pair of shields can be worn, if desired, with different garments.

The accompanying drawing represents a dress shield device embodying my invention.

The arrangement shown in the drawings comprises a pair of dress shields, 1, 2, and a pair of long supporting bands, 3 and it, which are intended to pass over the shoulders, and are attached to the shields 1 and 2, at the corners thereof, so as to form a loop or armhole between the shield and the band. The ends of these bands, 3 and at, are extended down to and connected with a belt band 5, the bands 3 and 4 being attached to said band 5 atthe front and back thereof, preferably by sliding connections, and being crossed at the back, as indicated at 6. ing the ends of the bands 3 and 4., so that while they fit the band 5 pretty closely, they are nevertheless loose enough to permit slid ing of the same. Short supplemental straps are extended down from the bottoms of the inner flaps of the shields 1 and 2 to the belt band 5, and provided with sliding connections therewith, the same as bands 8 and 4. The belt band 5 is arranged to be fastened in front, as, for example, by a buckle 9.

The method by which the device is to be used, it is believed, is obvious. It will be understood that changes and modifications can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.

\Vhat I claim as my invention is:

l. A device of the class specified comprising a pair of dress shields, a pair of straps arranged to pass over the shoulders and down the front and back of the party wearing the shields, said shields being attached to said straps and the straps being attached to one another and crossed in the back, and a belt to which said straps are attached front and back.

2. A device of the class specified comprising a pair of dress shields, a pair of straps arranged to pass over the shoulders and down the front and back of the party wearing the shields, said shields being attached to said straps and the straps being attached to one another and crossed in the back, a

belt to which said straps are attached front and back, and a pair of supplemental straps extending down from the dress shields to the belt, all of said straps having sliding connections with the belt.
