To all whom it may concern.:

Be it known that I, a subject of the King at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bill-Holders; and II do hereby declare thefollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had of Sweden, residing to the accompanying drawings, Vand to the letters of reference marked. thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in bill holders for use in connection with typewriters and comprises various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts whichwill be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined inthe appended claims.

My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings,vin which Y Figure l is a perspective view showing my bill holder typewriter. which bosses are apertured to receive the rods A6 upon which the bosses are adj ustably held by means of a screw R2. In said modifications, illustrated in Figs. 4c and 5 of the drawings, the usual jaw, designated by letter T, is similar in construction to the one illustrated in Fig. l and is shown as attached to a separate plate R instead of to the plateshown in Fig. l and designated by letter A. In Figs. 4 and 5, the spring-actuated push buttons T are shown as mounted in the bosses T2 and a spring T3 serves to hold the clamping edge of the jaw T against the face of the plate R. A second clamping jaw L is mounted upon the integral arms L of an extension of the jaw T and a spring L2 serves to normally hold the clamping end of the jaw L in the face of the extension of the jaw T. By this modified form, it will be noted that the plate R carrying the clamping means may be held in contact with the end of a copy holding plate or it may be held at a distance therefrom upon the rods, thereby adapting the `device for copy sheets of different sizes.

In Fig. 7 of the drawings, I have shown my improved bill holder as applied to a table P independent of the copy holding frame shown in the other views of the drawings and, in said modication illustrated in Fig. 7, the plate, designated by letter M, has the usual spring-actuated clamping jaw M and the supplementary clamping jaw M2 mounted upon the arms M3 of an integral projecting portion of the jaw M.

From the foregoing, it will be noted that, by the provision of a bill holder as shown and described, a simple and efficient means is afforded whereby a bill may be securely held upon the holder and, by the utilization of the supplementary clamping jaw, the leaves of the copy may be held turned back out of the vision of an operator sitting in front of the holder. By the modified form showing the extension, a form of the holder is illustrated whereby bills of larger size than ordinary ones may be held in convenient position to be seen by the operator sitting in front of the copy.

What I claim to be new is l. A bill holder comprising a frame having a laterally projecting plate, a springpressed clamping jaw mounted thereon having an extension upon the shank portion thereof, spring-actuated pins mounted upon said jaw adapted to contact with the face of said plate, a'clamping member mounted j upon said extension of the jaw, as set forth.

2. A bill holder comprising a plate having angled ends having openings therein, means for supporting said plate, castings secured to the angled ends of said plate, one of said castings having laterally extending lugs passing through said openings in one of the angled ends of the plate, integral arms projecting from the casting having said laterally projecting lugs, a springpressed clamping jaw mounted upon said arms, spring-pressed pins carried by said jaw, the shank portion of said jaw having an extension, and a clamping member mounted upon said extension, as set forth.

A bill holder comprising a plate having angled ends which have openings therein, means for supporting said plate, castings secured to the angled ends of said plate, one of said castings having laterally extending lugs passing through said openings in one of the angled ends of the plate, integral arms projecting from the casting having said laterally projecting lugs, a springpressed clamping jaw mounted upon said arms, spring-pressed pins carried by said jaw, the shank portion of said jaw having an extension, integral lugs projecting from said extension at right angles thereto, a pin carried by the lugs of said extension, and a spring-pressed clamping member mounted upon said pin, as set forth.

A bill holder comprising a plate having flanged ends, one of which lianges is recessed, castings secured to said fianges, said casting and flanges having registering apertures, one of said castings provided with an integral shank supporting arm, lugs projecting from the other casting and extending through said recesses, rods passing through said registering apertures in said flanges and castings, the casting having said lugsbeing provided with integral arms spaced apart, a pin carried by said arms, a jaw pivotally mounted upon said pin and provided with an extension upon the shank portion thereof, a spring adapted to bear against an integral portion of said jaw, a spring-pressed pin carried by the jaw, and a clamping member mounted upon said extension of the jaw, as set forth.

5. A bill holder comprising a plate having Hanged ends, one of which llanges is recessed, castings secured to said ianges, said flanged ends and castings having registering apertures, one of said castings provided with an integral shank supporting arm, lugs projecting from the other casting and eX- tending through said recesses, rods passing through registering apertures in said flanges and castings, the casting having said lugs being provided with integral arms spaced apart, a pin carried by said arms, a jaw pivotally mounted upon said pin, a spring adapted to bear against an integral portion of said jaw, a spring-pressed pin carried by the jaw, said jaw having an extension, the outer end of which is downwardly curved, arms projecting from said extension, a pin carried by the arms of the extension, and a. spring-actuated clamping member mounted upon the arms of the extension, as set forth.
