Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 16, 1909.
Application filed April 14, 1909. Serial No. 489,790.
To all 1071017 it may concern:
Be itknown that I, VVoLr Jaoons, a citizen of the United-States, and a resident of New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have made certain new and Fig. 2 is a side View thereof, partly broken away and partly in section, and Fig. 3' is a cross section of a comb.
The comb A, which may in general respects, be of any ordinary construction, has its back B groovedlongitudinally at C. The mirror E, which may be doubled if desired as shown in Fig. 3, is fitted within a case F. This case F is in the form of a flat pocket open at one edge G for the insertion of 'the mirrors E, and provided with side openings H to expose the mirrors. The mirrors are inserted through the edge opening G of the case. and the comb A has its back fitted in said edge opening and held therein thus securing the mirrors in the case. The edges of the opening G are beaded at I into the grooves C thus operating to secure the comb in the case, and forming a close joint at such point. In addition I employ independent fastenings in the form of rivets J passing through the case and the comb back asshown in the drawing and operating to rigidly secure the comb in connection with the mirror case as desired.
Manifestly. the mirror case may be of any suitable metal ,or other material and many he lacquered, plated or otherwise finished to suit the demands of the public.
The improved device as an article of manufacture presents unattractive appearance and combines with a comb, a mirror conveniently arranged for use desired.
I claim As an article of manufacture, a mirror case in the form of a pocketed frame open at one edge and opening laterally to expose a mirror, a mirror in said case and above the open edge thereof, and opposite the lateral opening, a comb having its back grooved longitudinally and fitted in the edge opening of the case with its grooved portion opposite the free edges of the said opening the said edges being bent into the grooved portion of the comb whereby the comb will retain the' mirror in the case and will be held by the case in connection therewith, and rivet-s passed through the case and comb back, substantially as set forth.
