To all whom it may concern;

Be it known that we, DARWIN E. CROSBY and SA RAB E. STRIGKLAND, of South Vineland, in the county of Cumberland, and State' of New'Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Clothes- Frame, and we do hereby declare that the followingl i `Fignre 2 is a top view of the same.

- Our invention has for its object to furnish an irnproved clothes-frame, which shall be so constructed and arranged that ladies dresses, and other articlesA that cannot be folded without being wrinkled, Ina'y be conveniently hung from it; andv It consists in the., construction and combination of various parts of the frame, as hereinafter more fully described.

A, B, and C, are three frames, made offsuitable height, and formed b y attaching asuitable number of cross-bars to two side-bars.

The upper ends of the sidebars of the two sideframes A C, are pivoted to two plates or bars, D, at-

rtachedvto the side-bars of the middle frame B, near their upper ends. l

By this construction, the clothes-ame may be opened up by spreading the lower ends of thetwo side-frames, and `closed by bringing the three frames close together.

The clothes to be dried being hung over the crossbars of the frames, do not interfere with the closing- 'and opening ofthe frame.

G are side-bars, the inner ends of Awhich are pivoted to and between the ends of plates H, attached to the upperand lower sides ,of the sliding bars E, near their inner ends, as shown in iigs. 1 and 2.

The outer ends of the pivoted bars G are bevelled ol upon their outer sides, to fit intorecesses in the inner sides of the notched ends of the Side-bars of the frame B, as shown in fig. 2.

I is a stop attached to the centre of the cross-bar b', to stop the bars E in proper position for the forward ends of the-side-bars G to drop into-the recesses in theSide-bars ofthe frame B.

rlhe bars E and G are provided with pins or knobs, J, for convenience in' hanging the dresses or other articles.

By this means, ladies dresses and other articles may b e conveniently hung up -to air, withoutbeing wrinkled, as they must necessarily be when hung over l the cross-bars of an ordinary clothes-frame.

Having thus described our invention,

What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. The extension-arms E, whether sliding or hinged, in combination with the top cross-bar and side-bars of a clothes-frame, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.

2. The'pivoted or folding side-arms G, in combination with the extension-arms E, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.

3.` The combination of the extension-arms E, straps or keepersF, folding side-arms G, plates H, and pins or knobs J, with each other, and with the folding clothes-frame A B C'D, substantially as herein shown and described, and for .the purpose set forth.
