ANTHONY AND COMPANY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
Letters Patent No. 93,763, elated August 17, 1869; -mzzcdatefl August 12, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN CAMERA-STANDS.
The Schedule referredv to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
of the said invention, reference being had to the an# nexed drawing, making pait of this specification, wherein- Y y. Figure lis a vertical. longitudinal section of said camera-stand Figure 2 is au end view of the same; and
Figure 3 is a plan of the framed wedges, and other parts below the.table.or camera-bed, which is removed. 4
Similarl marks of reference denotevthe saine parts.
This invention is designed for adjusting the camera vertically to any desired inclination, so as to direct it upon the' desired object, and takes the plaeeof the hinged table and screw, usually employed upon the pillar or column that sustains the instrument.
My invention consists in double incliues or wedges, moved endwise between a bed-piece anda swinging table, upon' which the camera rests, so that the inelination of lthat table can be adjusted by moving said double inclines either way beneath it.'
`lhis construction is simple, and gives four bearingpoints for the camera-table to rest irinly upon, so that the instrument will vnot. be liable to motion or' disarrangement by the introduction or withdrawal of the 'plates or slides.
In the drawinga, is aV table or bed, that is connected to-the top of column or pillar, thatis fitted to be raised vor lowered in any usual manner.
Upon the bed a are slide-ways 2 2, in which the double inclined planes b b are placed, and these are united by the cross-pieces c c, upon which the rack LZ is attached.
c e are bearings, attached at their bottom parts to the sidesof the table or bed a, -and through these the. shaft f passes, that carries the pinion g to the rack d, and a handfwheel, h, upon the outer end of this shaft f, is provided, by the turning of which the double inclines b b will be nioved in one direction or theother. y The middle portions of the inclines b b have elongated openings through them, at the place where the shaft f passes across.
rIhe table or camera-rest It is formed with the usual ledge l, at the front, and with side-'pieces m my, which are attachedY to the bearings e c by the screws i, so.
that said table L may be tipped in either vdirection by moving the double inelines one way or the other, beneath said table It, the cross-pieces o, of said table k,
bearing upon the surfaces of thedouble inclined planes,
and forming a rm bearing for the camera-rest It.v
That I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The double inclines b bjitted so asto be moved endfwise upon the bed u', in combination with the .table or camera-rest It, yattached to the bearings e e, so as to be tipped or inclined in either direction, substantially as set forth.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my signature, this 8th day of OctobelyA. I). 1868..
` I. H. SIODDARD.
