Be it. known. that l; (J'rro Bancreow. a ciiimen of the United States. residing of Philadelphia, in the county of lPhiladc his and State of Pennsylvanin, lmre invented certain new and useful inuprcrenzenis in. Garwent-Carriers, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in a garment carrier and particularly relates to a garment carrier for holding ladiesskircs and dresses which due to their length have to be folded before placing them in a ward robe or wardrobe trunk.

The ob -ect. of my invention is to provide means for securing the frame carrying the garment to, a coat hanger so that said frame "inaybe suspended from the ends thereof.

In t 1e drawings 1 represents the coat hanger adapted to be suspended hythe wire 2. The frame 3 upon which the garment is folded may be rectangular in form, as shown in Fig. 1., which is particularly adapted for hanging skirts or trousers, or the garment framemay be made in the manner shown in Fig. 2, which is particularly adapted for hanging what is known as a princess own. The curved ortion of the arg P s ment. frame fits into the shoulder of the gown and. the gown is folded over the horizontal piece 5, at thewaist line of the gown.

Either of the above described forms of garment frames must be suspended by their outer corners. as'lt 1s impracticable to have hanger or hook ethic-lied in the center of the frame in. would be covered by the garment. it is also necessary to have the garmcnt frame detachable from the coat hanger so that the garment may be con veniently wrapped around the frame.

Theport-ions of the fixture for attaching the coathanger and the garment frame togciher consist of the spring-plate shown in Fig. 3, and. the anglaplate 8. with a projecting lug 9 formed thereon, as shown in 1.

-Thc spring-plate 7, is provided with a shank-10 which is adapted to be secured to the under side of the ends of the coat hanger l and the plaic 8 is secured to the ends of the horizontal member of the garment hanger.

The spring-plate? has formed herein a slot 13 to receive the projecting lug 9 on the plaio 8 and-the said spring-plate 7 is-curved ouiwardly at its lower end so that it will be readily deflected when it. contacts with the curved surface 14 of the lug 9. when the coat hanger and the garment frame are brought together. The projecting lug 9 will enterthe slot 13, formed in the spring-plate 7 which will securely hold the parts together. The curved lower portion of the springplaie 7 also forms a means for taking hold of the spring-plate with the fingers when it is desired to detach the spring plate-from the lug on the garment frame.

The garmentfrarne is provided with a clamp for attaching a skirt or pair of trouears. The clamp consists of the clampingplate 20, pivoted at one end to the garment frame 3. At the ot-herend of said clampingplate is secured .a-spring-plate 21 which is engaged by projecting lugs 22 and 23 on the bracket 24 secured to the garment frame. Said lugs extend over the end of the clamping-plate and thus the, said clamping-plate is rigidly secured to the garment frame.

the combination My improved garment carrier is particularly adapted for use in wardrobe trunks Where it is necessary to fold the skirt, dress or trousers, due to their length, and when so folded upon the frame my improved means of attaching the latter forms a suitable and satisfactory means for hanging the garment frame, and the manner in which the suspending Wire is secured to the coat hanger permits .the additional weight tobe carried by the ends of the stick forming the coat hanger. And the garment frame attached in this manner does not interfere with a coat being placed upon the coat hanger.

Having thus described my invention 1 claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. In an article of the character described,

of a coat hanger, a garment frame, aspiring-"plate attached to one of said parts, aprojecting lug secured upon the other one of said parts and said spring-plate adapted to engage said projecting lug to se care said garment frame to said coat hanger.

2. In an article'of the character described, the combination of a coat hanger. springplates attached to the ends of said coat hanger,a garment frame, plates attached to either end of said garment frame, said last mentioned plates having projecting lugs formed thereon and said spring-plates adapted to engage said projecting lugs.

4. In an article of the character described, the combination of a coat hanger. spring plates attached to the ends of said coat anger, a garment frame, plates attached to either end of said garment frame, said last mentioned plates having projecting lugs formed thereon, said spring-plates haying apertures formed therein to receive said projecting lugs, said spring-plates having their lower portions curved and said lugs laying curved surfaces formed thereon where said spring-plates contact with the same.

5. In an article of the character described, the combination of a coat hangen a garment frame, means for supporting. said garment frameupon said coat hanger, a clamping-plate upon said garment frame, a bracket secured to said garment frame said clamping-plate by said bracket.

6. In an article of the character described, coat hanger. a garment frame, means for supporting said garment frame upon said coat hanger, a clamping plaete upon said ing-plate having a spring-plate thereon. a bracket secured to said garment frame. and said bracket having lugs formed thereon projecting over the end of said clamping-plate and said lugs adapted to engage said springplate.
