My invention appertains to improvements in garment hangers, and has for one of its primary objects to provide a hanger in which may be deposited moth-proofing material, such as moth balls, or moth flakes.

Another object of my invention is to provide a hollow type of garment hanger, its hollow portion accommodating moth-proofing material thruout, the said garment hanger being provided with ventilating apertures and bein made of two separate elements parted at the side so that the coat hanging element may be isolated from the trouser or skirt hanging element and be used either independently or compositely with the said trouser and skirt hanging element.

Another object of my invention is to provide lugs formed integrally with the said trouser hanging element of the garment hanger comprising my invention, enabling one to hang the loops of a skirt or for clamping the bodice portion, or belt portion, of a skirt.

Another object of my invention is to provide frictionally engaging securing and parting means between the coat supporting element and the trouser and skirt supporting element, so that the same may be assembled in frictional engagement, yet the said securing means being so constructed as to provide at the jointure of the said two elements a smooth stream-lined exterior and a continuing interior recess or circuitous path for the moth-proofing materials.

Another object of my invention is to provide plug means which may be used in connection with the coat supporting element of my invention so as to make the same adaptable for retaining moth-proofing material, and permitting the said coat supporting element to be used independently of the trouser or skirt supporting element.

Other features, objects and advantages inherent in my invention will become apparent from an examination of the accompanying drawings, having reference to the ensuing description, wherein like numerals are used to designate like parts, and in which:

Fig. 1 represents a front view of my invention with certain portions thereof indicated in crosssection, so as to more clearly elucidate the elemental structure thereof.

Fig. 2 is a fragmentary, enlarged, partly sectional, view indicating how the two elements comprising the garment hanger of my invention, are positioned preparatory to frictional engagement and assembly thereof.

Fig. 3 is a fragmentary view partly in section showing how the coat supporting element of my invention may be used independently in conjunction with a plug element when isolated from the trouser or skirt supporting element.

Fig. 4 is a transversal cross-sectional View taken, substantially, on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.

Fig. 5 is a fragmentary bottom View of the trouser or skirt hanging support element showing the integral clamping lugs 21, 28 a view taken looking at the bottom of Figure 1.

Fig. 6 is a perspective view of one of the plug elements Which are used in connection with the coat hanger element heretofore mentioned.

Referring, more particularly, to the drawing, in Figure 1, my invention is, generally, designated 1 and it includes a hanger element 9, which is made of wire or suitable rigid material having a loop portion Ill adapted to be hung on a supporting rod 8; the said hanging element 9 is also provided with a reduced extension ll having a threaded portion l2, the said extension ll being passed thru suitably drilled openings in the coat hanger element I4 and being firmly secured in assembly by a lock-nut l3, the shoulder 26 acting as an abutment to the tightening action of the nut I3.

The hanger proper is comprised of a coat, or the like, supporting, or hanging element I4, and a trouser or skirt supporting element 2|, the first two elements being, preferably, made of tubular material which will be more clearly hereinafter elucidated. The said elements being made up of suitable metallic material which is appropriately finished, or of plastic materials of various colors, and only those found most suitable for applicatiori and use in connection with structures such as my invention requires.

The coat supporting or hanging element I4 is provided with two arcuate portions I5 resembling in configuration the profile of the shoulders and neck of a garment to be supported, and terminates in two elbow-like extensions is which are counter-bored as indicated at 20 in order to receive the reduced extensions 23 of the element 2| in frictional engagement, causing the hollow recess 24 and the hollow portion H in the element [4 to have their edges congruently fitted, and to coincide, so that the hollow recesses l1 and 24 will form a continuous path within the assembled elements l4 and 2| for moth-balls [9 or moth flakes or other moth-proofing materials to be retained therein; and the multiplicity of minute ventilating orifices or openings l8 and 25 to permit the moth-proofing odors to permeate the garment in order to prevent garments hung thereon from being attacked by moths, etc.

the said skirts for hanging on the said lugs 21 or 28, or the belt portion of the skirt may be impinged :between the inner portions of the lugs '21 or 28 and the outer surface of the supporting element 2|, thus holding the skirt firmly in place.

A feature of my invention is that my garment hanger may be used solely for hanging coats, capes or similar garments only, by removing the bottom trouser supporting element 2| and inserting plugs in the bores 20 of the elbow I6 of the coat hanger element M. In this manner the moth-proofing feature is retained, and the plug element may be readily attached, inasmuch as it consists of an enlarged head 29 suitably knurled to permit convenient gripping, when inserting, or removing it from the open bore 20, having also the reduced shank 30 which fits into the bore 20 and i in frictional engagement therewith.

With the plug arrangement, my garment hanger can be ,usedsolely for supporting coats or capes, blouses and such other garments worn over the shoulders of a person. The feature of my invention is that a number of coat elements l4 may be purchased and a lesser number of trouser supporting element 2|, and thus an interchangeable assemblage is provided whereby as, many complete hangers may be assembled and as many coat hangers made available with a minimum number of structural elements.

Altho, I have herein described and revealed my invention, and inasmuch as the same is susceptible of modification and improvement, I re; serve the right to all improvements coming within the scope and spirit of my invention, also those embraced in the embodiments of the accompanying drawings, as well as those lying within the purview of the foregoing description.

Having thus described and revealed my invention, what I claim as novel, and desire tosecure by Letters Patent, is:

1. A garment hanger comprising, a coat hanger element of tubular construction terminating in depending elbow extensions, a hanger element secured to the midpoint of the said coat hanger, and a tubular bar member terminating in upwardly directed elbowextensions removably secured to the said depending elbow extensions, the said tubular bar member further vprovided with hook means integrally formed and adapted to 7 support a garment in hanging position, the said hook means including, hook portion formed from the lower portion of the said tubular bar member, the said hook portions being spaced equidistantly from the transverse axis thereof and adapted to clamp a portion of a garment.

A garment hanger comprising, a coat hanger element of tubular construction terminating in depending elbow extensions, a hanger element secured to the midpoint of the said coat hanger element, and a tubular bar element terminating in upwardly directed elbow extensions removably secured to the said dependingelb'ow extensions, the said coat hanger element and the said tubular bar member provided with a multiplicity of minute ventilating orifices; the said tubular bar member further provided 'with hook means integrally formed and adapted tosupport a garment in hanging position, the said hook means including, hook portions formed from the lower portion of the said tubular barmember, the said hook portions being spaced eduidistantly from the transverse axis thereof and adapted to clamp a portion of agarm'ent. a
