MILTON L. BACON AND GILBERT BACON, OF ANTIGO, WISCONSIN.
IRONING-BOARD.
Application filed May 26, 1908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, MILTON L. BACON and GILBERT BACON, citizens of the United States, residing at Antigo, in the county of Langlade and State of lVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Boards; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in ironing boards, more particularly for ironing garment-sleeves.
It also has for its object to provide a device with its sections suitably connected together, the edges of which are so formed as to compensate for the different parts of the sleeve to assure the proper ironing or pressing of the latter.
A further object is to promote simplicity of construction, to render the device eflicient and advantageous in practice, and relatively inexpensive of manufacture.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain instrumentalities, or features, substantially as hereinafter fully disclosed and defined by the claim.
In the accompanying drawings illustrating the preferred embodiment of my invention, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section thereof. Fig. 3 is a central cross-section. Fig. 4 is a broken horizontal section produced through the connecting member between the boards of the device, showing the bevel at the large end of one of the'boards.
In the drawings 1 and 8 designate the two members of the board, each having inwardly beveled lateral edges, as at 2, and a rounded forward edge as at 3, inclined inwardly to its inner plane surface, each board member also has its rear end portion provided at one side with an elongated rounded extension or enlargement 5, which is also slightly beveled along its lateral edges, said rear end Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 28, 1909.
Serial No. 435,030.
portion having its opposite side provided with a less sized rounded inwardly beveled lateral projection, the same thus being adapted to conform to, and be received by the sleeve of the garment for compensating for the different parts of the sleeve to assure the proper ironing or pressing thereof. Said boards are connected at their rear ends by bolts 9 and 10 to the ends of an elongated block 6, preferably bifurcated at its forward edge, one of the securing bolts passing through said boards and the arms of the bifurcated portion 7 of said block, the ends of said securing bolts having applied thereto heads and nuts respectively, received within recesses 11 in saidboards to remove them from the surface line of said boards for obvious reasons. It is noted that the board 8 is of less width than the other board and that it has its elongated rounded extension or enlargement opposed to the corresponding portion of the other board, fonconvenience in ironing garments of less size than the latter would accommodate.
W's claim:
A device of the character described, comprising two boards and a uniting block between said boards, at their rear ends, each board having inwardly beveled lateral edges and a rounded forward edge inclined inwardly, each board also having its rear end portion provided at one side with an elongated rounded extension, also slightly beveled along its lateral edges, the opposite side of said rear end portion having a less sized rounded inwardly beveled lateral projection.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MILTON L. BACON. GILBERT BACON.
