Description

"ibrtrd go-taies @sind @Wina GEORGE W. ROGERS,
OF NEW YORK, NQY.
'Lette/rs' Patent No.v 93,479, dated August V10, 1869.
IMPRovED sTAIR-ROD.
The Schedule referred t'in these Lettersv Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Figures 3 and 4 are transverse sectional views of'- the same, taken respectively through the middle and endportions of the rod.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is toA provide a cheap and reliable stair-rod fastening.
The invention consists in cutting recesses a a into the ends of the'wooden rod, at the innerjside of the same, and. in fastening pins b b to the ends of said recesses, said pins reaching 4quite or nearly to the ends of the rod respectively, as is clearly shown in fig. 2.
- Pins c c, having eyes at their ends, are fastened to the stairs, and the pins bare then tted through the eyes, so that` thus the rod will be held in place by invisible fastenings. A
Iam well aware that afastening quite similar to this is in use, where the pin isremovable, but this is,
.for many reasons, objectionable, and I therefore do not claim it.
Having thus described my invention, n `What I n laim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-' As an improved article of manufacture, the combination ofthe pins b, firmly inserted. in the inner ends of the recesses a, with the pins c, having eyes to receive the pins b, as herein described, for the purpose specified.
GEORGE W. ROGERS. Witnesses:
FRANK BLOOKLEY, C. L. TOPLIFF.
