IMPROVED FRUIT- BASKET.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 81,205, dated August 18, 1868.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, E. F. PERCIVAL and N. S. TRUE, of Hammonton, in the county of Atlantic, and in the State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Im? provements in Fruit-Baskets; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
This invention consists in connecting the top of an open basket, constructed as described, by a continuous band, which forms both an inside and outside hoop.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to make and use our invention, we will now proceed to describe its construction.
In the annexed drawing, forming part of this specification, A represents the bottom of the basket, which has a groove cut in it around and at suitable distance from the edge. In this groove the slats B B are placed, and some or all of them fastened to the bottom by small tacks or other suitable means.
The slats are connected at top by a band, C, which passes around the outside of the slats, and then on the inside, forming one continuous hoop, binding the slats both on the outside and inside.
Having thus fully described our invention, whatwe claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
As an article of manufacture, a fruit-basket, or other hollow wooden-Ware, when the slats or staves composing the same are connected at the top with a continuous band, forming both inside and outside hoop, the whole constructed substantially as herein set forth.
