MACK T4. TAYLOR, Ol FORT WORTH, TEXAS.
GARE AGE-CAN.
To all Lohomit may concern."
I e it known-that I, MACK T. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort l/Vorth, Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garbage- (lans, of which tion.
This invention relatesto receptacles for receiving trash or other matter and particulaily to receptacles for placing -onside Wallis and other conspicuous places'toreceive trash which might 'be-'otherwise thrown on the streets and other places, and the object is to provide such receptacles with certain attachments which will automatically close the receptacles when the trash falls into the re? ceptacles so that the trash is covered troni view and so that 4bad odors will not rise 'up lfrom the trash.
' Another' object is to provide suchI receptacles with inner removable cans which will receive the trash and which can be removed to dump the trash into garbage wagons without having to move the outer inclosing walls. With such arrangement the outer walls remain smooth and do not become unsightly and battered from rough 'usage Another advantage is that the outer; ine closing walls are made removable so that they can be removed whenever desirable and new walls putin their places. This arrangement is useful for advertising purposes. New 4advertising n iatter may be used as often as desirable and the receptacles do not havo to be carried to the paintors shop when the advertising inatter is tobe changed.
Other objects and advantages will be fully `'explained in the following description and this invention.
the invention will ybe more particularhr pointed out in the claini.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawingswhich forni a part ot' this application and specification. Figure 1 is a side elevation of a garbage receptacle constructed in accordance with Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the receptacle on a larger scale than Fig. l and showing the device. without the top. Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on a smaller scale than Fig. 2.- Fig'. #l is an inverted plan view of the top or cover. Fig. is a vertical section of the receptacle on a larger scale than previous views. Fig'. 6 is a broken sectional view, illustrating` the manner ol' atm taching' the removable portions oi' the cover.
Speciication of Letters Patent. Application-flied october 24, 190s.
the following is a specifica-3 nialy .be ha single casting.

Serial No. 459,311.
Fig. 7 is a brokenplan View, showing the construction of the parts shown in Fig.- 6.
Similar characters ot' reference are used to indicate the'sanie parts throughout the several views! This inventiojnincludes an outer inclosure which is provided, with a removable top which has automatic closingfdevices and includes an inner removable receptacle, the outer inc losure being provided with a door which is cofeitensivenwiththe dimensions oi` thev side of lthe inclosure. The outer inclosure is provided with atop Vrirn 1 'which Angle irons 3 constitute the traine at three sides ojl` the .bottom and at two corners of the iipright wallsof the' outer inclosure. At. the bottoni adjacent to the door a bar 4 is attached to the bottom angle irons 3. Adjacent to thejdoor the upright vtraine pieces consist of 'flat bars 5.'
Pockets are 'formed on the upright bars 3 and 5 byattaching strips 7 theretoand bending the saine twice to-receive theinclosing side 'pieces 6. At the bottom7 the sidewalls 6 rest inside of the upright 'flange of the angle bars 3. The side ywalls o are thus loosely mounted in the pockets torined to receive them andl are easily removable.
The side f'allsare useful l'or advertising purposes and may be removed as ol'tcn as desirable and other side Walls put in their places. rlhis construction is also desirable because a battered on'brolren side wall can be replaced with a new side wall.
The door S constitutes one of the sidewalls. The door is 'formed ol ilat bars S l'ora l'raine and pockets 7 attached thereto' to receive wall portion S. The door is hinged to the outer receptacle by hinges 9 and a lockingl device is provided which consists of sockets 10 attached to the wall oll the outer receptacle and a socket 10 attached to the door.. A key 10' is inserted in the sockets when they are brought into alineinent with each other.A
An innergarbage holder l1 is placed loosely within the outer receptacle and inay be rciuoved through the side door 8 as ol'ten as it is-necessary to dischargey the accun'iulations therein. .'lhe garbage receptacle 1l rests on the l'ranie pieces L and 12 and on the angle irons or bars 3.
The top ol the device is removable, beingl loosely niountcd on ,the outer inclosure'by nieans ol` the Vllanges 2 which rest on the casting 1, The top is also provided vvith strips 2' attached to the under side thereoi'to forni a flange to project down With the frame piecel so that the top will be held against displmement. The top is provided with lautomatically closing doors 15. The doors .15 have flanges 17 which are bent over bars 18' which are pivotally mounted in the staples or loo s flanges -17 and thus hold the doors 15 normally closed, but are yielding so that the doors' may be 'pressed open to receive trash. At# tention 1s called tothe construction of the bars 18 which have thin edges at the bottom so that there Will-be littlefriction during operation. The top has substantially anguiar flanges 2() Which project downwardly eights 16 are suspended on'te4 fully `described my invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,- v
i In a garbage receptacle, an outer inclosure, .a 'door hm ed thereto, a removable can With.-
