OIL-BURNER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that l', liiunicN B. Disnnow, of Minneapolis, llcnnepin county, Minnesota, have invented certain Improvements in Oil- Burners, of which the following is a specilication.

This invention relates to improvements in burners designed l'or vaporixiiig and burning heavy oils, and the objects l have in view are to rovide a burner of this character which Wil bc simple and inexpensive in construetion, and in which the oil will be thoroughly and coniplwteljr vaporized,v whereb)r a perfect combustion of the saine may be obtained and in which there will be no danger of clogging thc burnei'.

The invention consists generally in the constructions and combinations hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation ot' a burner embodying niy invention, Showing also the location of-the burner in connection with a boiler and showing also the means for a preliminary heating of the oil. For the purpose of securing a preliminary heating ofthe. oil, the. pipe l5 has preferably a coiled portion which extends` through a-suitablc chamber lti. It is obvious that the preliminary heating of the oil may be secured by other means than the pipe 15 in the steam chamber 1G, or in some instances the oil may be used with out any preliminary heating.

I claim as my invention:

The combination, with an oil pipe, of a conical sprayer block having asocket to receive said pipe, said block having an aperture therethrough terminatingin a conical mouth, and a series 'of' spirally arranged grooves in its outer surface opening into said mouth, a head surroanding said block and having a conical opening to receive the conical surface of said block, and a chamber in the rear of Said block communicating with said grooves, a steam pipe having one end fitting into said head, and concentric with said oil pipe and spaced therefrom, a ring mounted on said head and adjustable thereon, an arm carried by said ring and a pivoted plate mounted on said arm near the aperture of said block, suhstantially as described.
