Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIGE.
JOHN CAREY, OF VICTORIA, MISSOURI.
IMPROVED SPRING FAN ATTACHMENT.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 92,5 13, dated July 13, 1869.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, J oHN CAREY, of Victoria, in the county of J efferson andState of Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Spring Fan Attachment; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification. v
This invention relates to improvements in spring-propelling fan attachments for chairs, beds, and other places, the object of which is to provide an improved attaching apparatus, adapted to support the fan in any required position for directing the blast; also, an improved arrangement of propelling-sprin gs, calculated to give a more steady and uniform motion, and to continue the motion a greater length of time.
The drawing represents a side elevation of my improved apparatus.
A represents a bent rod of wire adapted for the support of the journal of the rotary fan B, and for the frame O of the springpropelling mechanism, and also for the connection of an adjust-able clamping-bracket, D, for fastening the apparatus in any desired position to a bed, chair, or other fixture. The fan-shaft is supported at.its outer end in the end E of the said rod, which is bent around to a parallel position vertically with the main part of the a set-screw. This clamping device admits of securing the fan attachment in any required position.
For imparting a more uniform motion to the fan, I have attached to the ordinary spring propelling wheel I another large propellingwheel and' spring, K, which, working in conjunction with the first, will continue the Inotion after the first has become uncoiled and its power expended.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the fan B with the duplicate propelling or clockmechanism, the stock A, Suc., and clamp D, arranged substantially as specified.
JOHN CAREY.
