Description
W. E. BUSH.
PIPE ATTAGHMENT.
APPLIOATION PILED JULY 30, 1908.
921 ,948. Patented May 18; 1909.
WILLIAM EARL BUSH, OF FRESNO, OALIFORNIA.
PIPE ATTACHIVIENT.
Application filed. July 30, 1908.
To (IN whom ti: may coment:
Be it known that L W'ILLIAM E. BUsn, a citizen ol' the United States, residing at Fresno, in the connty ol' Fresno and State ol' California, have invented a new and usel'nl Improvement in Pipe Attachments, ol' which the following is a speeification.
This invention relates to pipe attachments, the object being to provide an attachment by means ol' which the smoke in its passage l'rom the bowl to the mouth-piece will be cooled and cansed to deposit injurious matter.
Another object oi' .my invention is to provide an attachment which is so constrncted that it can be readily attached to the ordinary pipe now in use.
:i further object ol' my invention is to provide an attachment adapted to be arranged between the neck and moutl'-piece and one which is provided with a cooling chamber and a saliva chamber. V
lVith these objects in view, the invention consists in the novel 'features ol' Construction, combination and arrangeinent ol" parts, hereina'l'ter l'nlly described. and pointed ont in the claim.
in the drawing 'lorining a part o'l' this specificationz-Figure 1 is a side elevation ol' a pipe showing my improved attachment in. place, partly broken away to show the manner oil' connecting the same to the neck and mouth-piece. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal seotional view ol' the attachment. Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of a pipo showing the bowl and mouthpiece in position to receive the attachment.
In the drawing A indicates the bowl ol' an ordinary pipe which is provided with a necl; having a threaded nipple A and B is the mouth-piece which is provided with an internally threaded end adapted to fit over the nipple A ol" the neck, which is ol" the ordinary Construction ol' pipe now in use, but in some cases the neck is form'ed with a thread- E ed bore and the mouth-piece with a threaded nipple, and I have constructed an attachment which can be readily attached to either kind.
My attachment comprises a stern-section Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 18, 1909.
Serial No. 4463106.
C which .is provided with an nternally threaded end O' and an externally threaded nipple C at its opposite end adapted to fit over and in the respective ends of the neck and. m onth-piece. with a diagonal partition 0 forming a cooling chamber D and a saliva chamber E which are connected together by a passage F Forned adjacent the upper end of the partition C through which the smoke is adapted to pass on its way to the month-piece.
4 drain G is formed in the chamber E and is adapted to be closed by a plug G' so that when it is desired to cleanthe chamber it is only necessary to rem ove the plug and blow into the mouth piece and the, saliva will be forced out ol' the drain.
lt will be seen by constrncting the attachment with an internally threaded end and an. externally threaded nipple it can be readily attached to the ordinary pipe now in use which is provided with a threaded connection between the neck and month-piece.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided an attachment which is exceedingly simple and cheap in constructon and one which can be sold as a separate article so that it can be readily attached to the pipe by the buyer.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is The combnation with a pipe provided with a neck having a threaded nipple, of a stern section provided with an internally threaded end adapted to be arranged over said nipple, a diagonal partition formed in. said stem forming a cooling and saliva chamber connected together by a passage, a drain opening commnnicating with the saliva chamber, a plug for closing said opening, a threaded nipple forned upon the opposite end of said stern, and a mouth-piece having an internally threaded end adapted to fit over said nipple.
LLIAM EARL BUSH.
