Specification of Lettere Patent.
Patented May 11, 1909.
Application filed November 7, 1908. Serial No. 461,465.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIZABETH T. Mc- GowAN, residin at West Quincy, in the county of Norfo k, State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvem'ents in Crib-Covers, whereof the fol- J owing is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
My invention consists in a crib cover which effectually prevents an infant, from disarranging its covers or from uncovering its hands and arms. The cover is easily attached to and removed from the crib, andis both economical and washable.- p
In the accompanying drawings Figure I,
cover in place. Fig. II, is an illustration of the crib cover showing its construction.
The crib cover 1, is made of soft muslinor othersuitabletextilematerial. Itisrectangular in shape having a width corresponding more orless to the width of the crib,in connection with which it is to be used. Its depth ,may vary according to the size of the infant.
At the four corners of the cover are affixed tying strings 2, 2,2, 2. Near the center of the cover the a erture 3,,is rovided, which is large enoug to receive t e neck of the infant, and capable of being enlarged by un-.
faste the complementary flaps 4, *4, so that the mfants head may be passed through the aperture. Thefiaps are shown as secured by buttons, but other means, as for instance a t string may be em loyed.
0 use the cover it is a 'usted upon the inis impossible' for the infant to withdraw its head from'the cover. The cover is then tied in place frame of t e crib as shown ig. 1. Under lie over a p by fastening the tyiua strings to the these circumstances the infants headrests upon the upfier half of the cover, which may cover protects the entire body including the arms of the child. The coverings are p aced over this part of the crib cover, and as a result it is impossible for the movements of the child to disarrange .the covering. At the same time all the parts are readily remov able andadjustable.
' As the entire article may be made of muslin or tape or similar materials, the crib cover-' 1 ing is-easily washed, and may also be made at very small expense. As.it has no straps or metal parts capable of injuring the mfant, it is tobe preferred to other an more complicated contrivances which'have heretofore een devised in the effort same end. I
Having thus described my invention,- I clairm I to accomplish the An infants crib coverm'g, comprising a rectangular sheet having an aperture therein extending transversely of said sheet and arranged at a distance from the end of the Philadelphia, Pennsyl-J 0w, while the lower part of the sheet, so as'to provide a space for the head to
