Description

    CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application claims the benefit of U.S. Patent Application Ser. No. 62/042,058, which was filed on Aug. 26, 2014, and is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
  • TECHNICAL FIELD
  • This disclosure relates to implementations of a combination bed sheet.
  • BACKGROUND
  • A mattress on a bed typically is covered with a fitted sheet and a flat sheet placed on top of the fitted sheet with some of the edges of the flat sheet tucked underneath the mattress. Near the bottom corners of the mattress, the flat sheet may be folded a particular way to give a neat, tucked appearance. Arranging the fitted sheet and flat sheet on a mattress can be time consuming and/or difficult for some people, particularly children, the elderly, and the disabled. For instance, the flat sheet has to be positioned correctly on the mattress before tucking. The flat sheet may be too far to one side of the mattress or too high or too low on the mattress and therefore must be repositioned repeatedly until in a suitable position. This can be challenging or time consuming.
  • Also, in a facility with numerous beds, e.g., a hotel, prison, hospital, it may be desirable to a keep a set of a fitted sheet and flat sheet together so that they do not get separated, for example, in the laundry.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 illustrates an example combination bed sheet comprising a top sheet and a bottom sheet according to an implementation of the the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 2A illustrates an example top sheet of FIG. 1 according to an implementation of the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 2B illustrates an example bottom sheet of FIG. 1 before the corners 205 are sewn according to an implementation of the present disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates an example mattress according to an implementation of the present disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Implementations of a combination bed set are provided. In some implementations, a combination bed sheet comprises a top sheet and a bottom sheet. In some implementations, the top is a flat sheet. In some implementations, the bottom sheet is a fitted sheet. In some implementations, the bottom edge of the top sheet is secured to the bottom edge of bottom sheet. In some implementations, the top sheet includes angled cutouts at its bottom corners.
  • FIG. 1 illustrates an example combination bed sheet 100 comprising a top sheet 110 and a bottom sheet 105 according to an implementation of the present disclosure. The dotted lines 112, 210 in FIG. 1 illustrate example fold lines.
  • FIG. 2A illustrates an example top sheet 110 of FIG. 1 according to an implementation of the present disclosure. The dotted lines 112 in FIG. 2A illustrate example fold lines. As shown in FIG. 2A, in some implementations, the top sheet 110 may be similar to a rectangular flat sheet but with two cut outs at its bottom corners 130 a, 130 b (collectively 130) along a first line 125 a, 125 b and second line 135 a, 135 b, respectively. In some implementations, the first line 125 a, 125 b extends from the bottom edge 115 of the top sheet inwardly and the second line 135 a, 135 b, respectively, extends from a side edge 110 c 1, 110 c 2 inwardly until the two lines intersect.
  • In some implementations, the first line 125 a, 125 b extends inwardly perpendicular to the bottom edge of the top sheet. In some implementations, the second line 135 a, 123 b extends inwardly and towards the bottom edge of the top sheet.
  • The cut outs 130 a, 130 b thereby define an end portion 110 a, top portion 110 b, and two side portions 110 c.
  • FIG. 3 illustrates an example mattress 150 according to an implementation of the present disclosure. Referring to FIGS. 2A and 3, when the top sheet 110 is placed on the mattress 150, the end portion 110 a covers the end of the mattress 150 a, the top portion 110 b covers the top of the mattress 150 b, and the two side portions 110 c cover the sides of the mattress 150 c.
  • As shown in FIG. 2A, in some implementation, the bottom side edges 135 a, 135 b of the top sheet 110 may be at a 135 degree angle relative to edges 125 a, 125 b. respectively. In this way, when the top sheet 110 is placed on the mattress 150 as discussed above, the edges 135 a, 135 b create the look of angled creases (e.g., hospital corners or creases at 45 degree angles relative to edges 125).
  • In some implementation, the bottom side edges 135 a, 135 b of the top sheet 110 may be at an angle greater than or less than 135 degrees relative to edges 125 a, 125 b, respectively. In this way, when the top sheet 110 is placed on the mattress 150 as discussed above, the edges 135 a, 135 b create the look of angled creases (e.g., hospital corners or creases at greater than or less than 45 degree angles relative to edges 125 a, 125 b, respectively).
  • FIG. 2B illustrates an example bottom sheet 105 of FIG. 1 before the corners 205 are sewn according to an implementation of the present disclosure. The dotted lines 210 in FIG. 2 illustrate example fold lines. As shown in FIG. 1 with the corners sewn together, in some implementations, the bottom sheet 110 may be similar to a fitted sheet.
  • In some implementations, when the bottom sheet 105 is placed on the mattress 150 the top edge 106, side edges 108 a, 108 b (collectively 108), and/or bottom edge 107 of the bottom sheet 105 wrap around the mattress and are located on the bottom of the mattress 150.
  • In some implementations, one or more elastic bands may be secured at or adjacent the top edge 106, side edges 108 a, 108 b, and/or bottom edge 107 of the bottom sheet 105. In this way, the bottom sheet 105 may be more securely placed about a mattress. In some implementations, there may not be an elastic band located at or adjacent the top edge 106, side edges 108 a, 108 b, and/or bottom edge 107 of the bottom sheet 105. In some implementations, the bottom sheet 105 may be secured about a mattress by any suitable method known to or future developed by one of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of the present disclosure. For example, in some implementations, draw strings may be used at or adjacent the top edge 106, side edges 108 a, 108 b, and/or bottom edge 107 of the bottom sheet 105.
  • As shown in FIG. 1, in some implementations, the top sheet 110 may be secured to a bottom sheet 105. In some implementations, the bottom edge 115 of the top sheet 110 may be secured to the bottom edge 107 of the bottom sheet 105.
  • In some implementations, the bottom sheet 105 may be secured to the top sheet 110 along edges 125 a, 125 b. In this way, the aesthetic relationship (e.g., the hospital corner) which may exist as a result of the top sheet 110 being secured to the bottom sheet 105 is not changed and/or lost when the bed sheet 100 is slept on by a user.
  • In some implementations, the side portions 110 c of the top sheet 110 may be dimensioned such that when the top sheet 110 is placed on the mattress 150, the edge 110 c 1, 110 c 2 of the side portions 110 c will extend below the bottom side edge 150 d of the mattress 150. In some implementations, the edges 110 c 1, 110 c 2 of the side portions 110 c may extend to the bottom side edge 150 d of the mattress 150. In some implementations, the edges 110 c 1, 110 c 2 of the side portions 110 c may extend above the bottom edge 150 d of the mattress 150.
  • In some implementations, the top edge 117 of the top sheet 110 may be dimensioned such that when the top sheet 110 is placed on the mattress 150, the top edge 117 may extend to the top edge 150 e of the mattress 150. In some implementations, the top edge 117 may extend below the top edge 150 e of the mattress 150. In some implementations, the top edge 117 may extend past the top edge 150 e of the mattress 150.
  • In some implementation, the top sheet 110 and the bottom sheet 105 may be secured together by sewing. In some implementation, the top sheet 110 and the bottom sheet 105 may be secured together using of snaps. In some implementations, the top sheet 110 and the bottom sheet 105 may be secured together through the use of any other fastening means such as buttons, hook and loop fasteners (e.g., Velcro®), magnets or other reclosable fasteners or any other attachment or fastening technology existing or developed in the future.
  • In some implementations, the top sheet 110 and the bottom sheet 105 may be manufactured from the same material. In some implementations, the top sheet 110 and the bottom sheet 105 may be manufactured from different materials. In some implementations, the top sheet 110 and/or the bottom sheet 105 may be comprised of one or more layers of material. In some implementations, the bed sheet 100 may be manufactured from cotton. In some implementations, the bed sheet 100 may be manufactured from any synthetic, semi-synthetic, or natural fiber, or a combination thereof, material.
