HIRAM M. DINGSLEY, OF HASTINGS, NEBRASKA.
HAME-BREAST-STRAP ATTACHIHENT.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, HIRAM M. DINGSLEY, citizen of the United States, residing at Hastings, in the county of Adams and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hame-Breast-Strap Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention comprehends certain new and useful improvements in harness, and relates particularly to a simple and efficient construction of attachment for hame breast straps, the invention having for its object a sim le device of this character which will afforcl a connection of breast strap to hame, in which the breast strap will have an even bearing the full width of the strap and being prevented from working up on either edge, which would cause such edge to become chafed and worn.
WVith this and other objects in view that will more fully appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain constructions, arrangements and combinations of the parts that I shall hereinafter fully describe and claim.
For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof, and to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a hame with my attachment applied thereto; Fig. 2 is a view of my improved device detached and on an enlarged scale; and, Fig. is a vertical transverse section thereof.
Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawing, by the same reference characters.
Referring to the drawing, it will be noted that my improved hame breast strap attachment is formed with an eye 1 designed for the link connection of the attachment to a hame of any character, the attachment also embodying diverging portions 2 which ex- Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed June 12, 1908.
Patented April 27, 1909.
Serial No. 438,160.
tend from the eye 1 and which merge at their lower ends into a substantially semicircular portion 3 designed for the attachment thereto of the ordinary snap hooks. The ends of the semi-circular portion 3 are parallel with each other and bear an angular relation to the diverging portions 2. The attachment also embodies a straight cross-bar 4 which extends across the substantially semi-circular portion 3 and at right angles to the ends of the portion 3 and at a distance from the portions 2 substantially equal to the thickness of the ordinary breast strap which is intended to pass over such bar. It will thus be seen that the formation and location of the cross-bar 4, and the length of the ends of the semi-circular portion 3 between said crossbar and the ends of the parts 2, provide a bearing by which the breast strap is enabled to lie flat and having a bearing throughout its entire width, being prevented from working up on either edge and avoiding the disadvantage of the ordinary rings.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
The herein described breast strap attachment for hames, consisting of an integral structure embodying a substantially semicircular portion, a cross-bar extending across the semicircular portion, the cross-bar being straight throughout its length, the ends of the semicircular portion extending upwardly in parallel relation to each other and at right angles to the bar a distance substantially equal to the thickness of the ordinary breast strap, arms extending inwardly toward each other from the said ends of the semicircular portion and having a well defined angular relation thereto, and an eye connecting the upper ends of said arms.
In testimony whereof I a'IIix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HIRAM M. DINGSLEY. Witnesses:
