Description
Letters Patent N 91,836, dated Jime29, 186.9.
IMPRQVBD WINDOW-PULLEY.
The Schedule referred tp in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all Iwhom 'it may concern Be it known that I', JAMES M. FORD, of Brooklyn,
in the county of Kings, iu the State of New York, have invented a new and improved Window-Pulley; and I do hereby declare the following is a full and exact description thereof,`reference being madev to the accompanying drawings, and to the guies of reference thereon. I. v p
The nature of my invention consists iti; inserting two pulley-wheels, over which the cords sustaining the sash and weight run, in a case of tubular form, to be inserted in the window-sash frame, substantially as hereinafter described.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and'use my invention, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation.
In the accompanying drawings-f- Figure l is a perspective view of the case containing the pulley-wheels;
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal section through the case; and 4"" Figures 3 and 4, are views of the wheels detached from the case.
. i i: I. i fi. .lhe case is provided with openings, D ,D,1nits upfore mentioned, to allow the wheels to be inserted.
It may, however, be completely cylindrical in the cen-' or the upper part may be open from end to end,as
shown in the drawings.
There are two open slots, f j; in the under side of the cylinder, for the cords to pass through.
The sides ofthe inner surface of' the case, between which the wheels run, are not curved, but fiat, forming vertical parallel walls, enclosing the wheels.
B is a face-plate, cast solid with the case, and i, a screw-liole, for attaching the same to the sash-frame by a single screw l do not limit myself, however, to this particular form of face-plate.
The Vtwo wheels, ovei which the coids run, by iiicreasing the friction, will cause a less weight to balance, or hold the sash suspended, than a single wheel, as commonly used for said purpose.
To .insert my pulley, a round hole, is made in the sash-frame, by means oi' an anger, or bit, the tubular case inserted in said hole, and the face-plate attached to the frame.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the tubular case A, and the pulley-wheels c c, inserted therein, the same being constructed substantially as and for the purpose described.'
JAMES M.
