Patented June 15, 1869.
J 77 57726015166. 0 w G9 waited fitness LEVI M. HARVEY, OF ALBANY, NEW YORK.
Letters Patent No. 91,439, dated June 15, 1869; antcdated June 4, 1869.
nimnovnn SKIRT-BOARD AND mommies-ABLE The Schedule refezredto in these Letters Patent and making part of the lime.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LEVI M. HARVEY, of the city and county of Albany, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Skirt- Boards and Ironing-Tables; and I hereby declare that the following is a-full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the combination of an ironing-table and skirt-board, and the arrangement of the parts, as hereinafier more fully de scribed.
Figure 1 is an end view of the board and table in position to be used. In said figure, a represents the end of the board; 0 c, the cross-piece to which the board is attached, and upon which said ironing-board rests when in use.
Figure 2 represents said table and board folded together, to be set aside after use.
In Figure 3, aa a represent the skirt-board, resting upon the cross-pieces c 0, attached thereby to the standards I) b b b, and held in position for use.
The board a a a is cut in two at s, and the parts are attached together by means of hinges, represented in fig. 2 at s s.
The object of this arrangement'is to enable the person using the table to elevate the table above the crosspiece and standard, upon which one end of the table rests, for the purpose of adjusting the skirt to the table while ironing the same, and also for. applying.
the skirt to the table, and for removing the same from the table afiser the ironing is completed.
The standards b b b b, 800., forming the legs of the table, as seen in fig. 1, are made crooked, for the purpose of forming a chamber, 0, immediately beneath the skirt board, as seen in fig. 1, when the table is opened for use, by means of which the skirt is kept from getting upon the floor, or being liable to become dirtied while being ironed.
This chamber 0 is formed by means or stalls d d d d, as seen in fig. 3, the ends of which are seen at d d ddddin fig.2.'
The cross-pieces c c c c, to which the table or ironing-board is attached, are attached, at one end thereof, to-the standards or' legs, by means of a pin or pivot, around which the cross-piece may turn, so as to bring the cross-pieces and ironing-board within the chamber 0 when the table is closed, to be put away after use. The crooked standards are made to cross, each the other, as shown in the accompanying drawing, at about their middle, where they are attached by means of a pin or rivet, so as to be able to be closed or opened, as may be desired.
Having thus fully described my'improved skirt-board and ironing-table combined,
' What I claim as my invention, and seek by Letters Patent, is- I The standards b.b,.curved as and for the purpose described, in combination with the hinged cross-bars c 0, board a a, and stalls d d, the whole arranged and operating substantially as and for the purposes set LEVI M. HARVEY.
to secure forth.
