WIT/VESSES PAUL GERST, OF STUTTGART, GERMANY.
CLOSING DEVICE FOR DOORS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 19, 1909.
Application filed June 4, 1908. Serial No. 436,716.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL Gnnsr, subject of the German Emperor, residing at 7 Alexanderstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany, have invented new and useful Improvements in Closing Devices for Doors, of which the followin is a specification.
This invention relates to a closing device for doors, wherein by means of a locking bolt which is adjustably and pivotally mounted on a threaded pin secured to the door frame and by tightening the screw nut provided on the pin, a tight closure is effected.
The invention differs from the known constructions by providing beside the threaded pin opposite the door edge a set screw which is adjusted on a level with the door, so that for closing the door, the locking bolt can be pressed against the set screw and against the door by means of the screw nut. The improved construction may thus be applied to any wooden or iron door frame and adjusted for any door so as to efiect a tight closure.
The closin device is shown on the accompanying c rawing by way of example.
Figure 1 is a plan and Fig. 2 a longitudinal section to Fig. 1.
The threaded pin 0 is secured to the door frame a by means of wood screws 6 e e.
The set screw it provided beside the threaded pin a at the side opposite to the door I) is adjusted on a level with the door 6. The
locking bolt f adjustably and pivotally mounted on the threaded pin 0 is adjusted in the horizontal operative position and pressed by means of the nut 9 against the door I) and set screw h.
In order to open the door, the nut 9 must be loosened, whereupon the bolt slides away from the door 6 and assumes a vertical position beside the door edge.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I declare that what I claim and wish to secure by Letters Patent is A door securing device comprising a threaded post adapted to be secured to a door jamb, a plate having an opening receiving said post, a thumb nut on said threaded post bearing against the plate, and an adjustable friction post for the plate at one side of said threaded post.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
PAUL GERST.
