UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
ALBERT DONOVAN, OF WAUPUN, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO WILLIAM DONOVAN, OF WAUPUN, WISCONSIN.
DISPLAY-STAND.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALBERT DONOVAN, re-
siding in Waupun, in the county of Fond du Lac and State of lVisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Display- Stands, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are a part of this specification.
This invention has for its object to provide a display stand for supporting a number of samples of rugs or curtains or the like and for presenting one or more samples to view as desired.
The invention consists of a support having a series of frames which are adapted to support the samples and which are slidably mounted to enable them to be run out on guides from the body portion of the support to a position where they will expose the amples to view.
lVith the above and other objects in view the invention consists of the display stand herein described and claimed, its parts and combinations of parts and all equivalents.
Referring to the accompanying drawings in which like characters of reference indicate the same parts in the different views; Fioure 1 is a sectional front elevation of a display stand constructed in accordance with this invention; and, Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation thereof.
In these drawings the supporting frame or body portion is shown as formed of vertical standards 5, preferably of angle iron construction, and these standards are connected near their lower ends by a rectangular frame 6 and at their upper ends by a somewhat similar rectangular frame 7, both preferably of angle iron construction. The front and rear members of frame 7 are nearly twice the length of the corresponding members of the lower frame, so that said frame projects to one side of the device. The standards 5 are rigidly braced with the frames 6 and 7 by means of suitable brace strips 8 at the corners, and casters 9 are provided at their lower ends to permit of the device being easily moved from one position to another.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 1 1-, 1907.
The frame 7 has a series of parallel guide Patented Dec. 29, 1908.
Serial No. 397,256.
In operation, the display stand having samples secured to the respective sample frames by means of the hooks 16 may have the samples exposed one after the other by running their respective frames out upon their guide rods for that purpose, or they may be shown in combinations by extending several sample frames at the same time to a different extent. All of the samples may be displayed at one time by arranging their frames in a stepped formation.
By means of this construction the samples are quickly and easily exposed to view without a great amount of handling and may be presented in any order and in any combinations desired.
lVhat I- claim as my invention is:
A display stand, comprising an angle iron supporting frame with its top extending beyond one side to approximately the distance of its width, parallel rods extending across the top of the supporting frame from the extended edge to the opposite edge, parallel rods extending across the bottom of the supporting frame, and sample frames slidably mounted on the top rods and comprising a horizontal top bar and a single vertical side bar, the side bar extending into the space I In testimony Whe1'eof,I afiix my signature, between the rods at the bottom of the sunin presence of tWO Witnesses.
porting frame to be guided thereby, and means on the top bar and the side bar for ALBERT DONQVAN'V 9 engaging the sample at the top and one side WVitnesses:
thereof, leaving the bottom and the other J. W. MEIKLEJQHN, side free. L0U1s J. BUTTS.
