Description

MARK) GIANINI, 0l" NEW YUHK, N. Y.
DISPLAYTRECEPTACLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 3, 419138. e
I Application filed August 10. 1997. Serial No. 387,988.
To all whom it may concern.'
i Be it known that l, Manie GiANfNI, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhatten, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and useful. linprovenient in Displity-Receptacles, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descri tion.
T iis invention relates to display -ieceptacles or boxes. Candy boxes iii-e often arranged with trays or divisions for different kinds of candy, but they are not all in View. A box constructed accordingl to the present invention is especially useful for.
this purpose, :is the box Iniiy be opened out to expose the contents of all itsdivisions. Thilo intended especially to be used as a candy box, the box may be used fol' other purposes.
The invention consists in the construction and combination of tbc parts to be hereinafter fully describt-id and set forth in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part ofthis specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the box with its sections in their folded condition, the cover of the box being removed; Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the box .showing it in its open or extended condition; Fig. 3 is a vertical cross section through tho box in its folded condition and with 'the cover in osition; Fig. 4 is a horizontal section on the ine 4-4 of Fig. 2, and illustratin f the manner of att-aching the sections to the body of the box; and Fig. 5 is a side elevation'of one of the links which are used in attaching the movable sections to the body of the box. Referring more particularly to the arts,
1 represents the body of the box which is shallow and of `rectangular form, as indicated. The bottom 2 of this bod is extended beyond its side and end Wa ls so as to form a projecting flange or led e 3 extending continuously around the ox, las shown. edge of the body are two box sections or trays 4; these sections consist of elongated rectangular boxes, their height being e ual to the height. of the box bod but tieir width is half the width of the ox body so that. when set in position, sas indicatedjn Normally resting upon the upper' vbent inwardly through openings '7 formed in the walls of thtl box body and the sections, es will be readily understood, and as is illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5.
As illustrated in Fig. 3, when the sections or trays fi'are in position above the body the box may be closed by a suitable cover 9, which seats with a-dovi'nward movement on the box, in the usual manner. In thioconnection it will be observed that the outer' side walls of the sections 4 aline with the side Walls of the box body so that the Cover fits the parts and holds the trays against movenient, as will be readily understood.
After the cover has been removed. the box sections may be folded upon their links 5 so that they will lie at the sides of the body of the box, as indicntediii Fig-2. When in this position the bottoms of the sections will come against the projecting flange 3 of the box bod which assists in supporting them in their horizontal position,4 as shown. In this 'connection attention is called to the fact that the height of the sections is, substantially the saine as the height of the box body 1, so that when-the sections are opened out as described, the eiiect is produced of a larve box formed with partitions.
fi. will be @viavia ont with a im Constructed as described, articles contained in the box may b e readil displayed.
Attention is also cal ed to tbe fact that the side walls of the cover extend down over the sidewalls of the box body to seat against the ilange 3.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent,- A'disp1a.ybox having a substantially recyond the sidewalls thereof and forming a flange on tlie sides of said body, a pair of movable trays normally seating on said body and covering the sanie,*ii pair of links attached at one end to the ebd wall of said body inclining upwardly and inwardly and attached pivotally to the end wall oflsaid trays, a second pair of links attached pivotally to the end Wall of said bodyy opposite said first sii'A tangular body with a bottoni projecting bef links, said secpnri named link's uxtendinf ln msbimony whereof I have signed my upwardly and inwardly mul being atfmehm name tu this speclfcatlon 1'n the presence of 1u pivotally to the other 0nd of said trays upi two subscribing witnesses.
pusitc said irstlinks, and u ren'lovublc covi' Y v 5 Mmtln over sind trays and Saul body, said .MARIO (JIANINIu trays @ing adapted tu .swing outwardly, Lu Witnesses: seat against the sides of said bmlyJ nml rest- F. I). AMMEN,
ing un said flange. Evmmlm B. MARSHALL.
