have invented certain new and useful I mlprovements in Cigar-Tips, of which the iiolowing is a speciiication.
The object of my invention is to provide means between the Wrapper and filler of the cigar to prevent ine dust and minute particles of foreign matter in the filler from being drawn into the mouth and throat of the person smoking the cigar, without inteifering with the passage of smoke through the tip.
A further object is to provide means which will dispense with the necessity of forming'a tip on the end of the cigar and clipping it off preparatory to lighting.
The invention consists: generally in providirgea pervious tip between the' wrapper and ii ler.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure l is a perspective view of a 'cigar embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a similar view illustrating the wrapper partially unrolled showing the position of the tip therein.
In the drawing, 2 represents the cigar filler rolled in the usual way and comprising, if desired, a quantity of line tobacco.
3 is the wrapper rolled around the illeras usual and 4 is a tip or cap of pervious material, preferably a fabric, such as muslin, ritting snu ly around the end of the filler and held in p ace thereon by the wrapper which is cut oi'l', as indicated in Fig. 1 flush with the surface of the tip. Thisabric tip is of suit- V able texture to prevent the :fine particles of The fabric closes the end of the iller and prevents the tongue or lips of' the smoker from coming in contact with thciiller, and the dust and ne particles of tobacco leaf or the stems mixed with the filler from being drawn into the mouth and throat. This fabric will I also absorb a considerable portion of the nicotin. It will be unnecessary to clip the end of thecigar when this device is used, and the cigar-maker will be able to utilize fine tobacco fora iiller and it will not be necessary to Jform a tip with the wrapper to close the end ol the cigar.
I claim as my invention:
l. A cigar iiller having a for the purpose specified.
2. A cigar provided with a 'porous nonfrangible tip intermediate ofthe filler and wrapper, said tip covering the sides and ond of the head of Ithe cigar, substantially as described.
3. A cigar having the end of the Tiller uncovered by the wrapper at the head of the cigar, and a porous cap of flexible material covering the end of the filler and extended between the filler and wrapper to form a yielding non-frangible covering to the filler, substantially as described.
