T all whom it may concern.: Be 1t known that I, Invlxo Kansen', a\, citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful ImprovementsY in Marking-Tags, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to marking tags and more particularly to that class of tags which are designed to be attached to textile fabrics and other similar art-icles of merchandise and to have written on them the numbers, cost and selling prices, and like memoranda relating to the article to which they are attached.

The female member 14 is secured on the flap .2 by reason of a suitable opening (not shown) being rovided therein through which the cylimliical portion 15 is inserted with the flange 17 flush against the inner side of the flap 2. T he cap or cover 20, is then placed over the opposite end of the cylindrical portion on the opposite side of the-llap, and a downward pressure is then applied by any suitable tool (not shown) and the cylindrical stem 15 is collapsed within the cap or cover 20, thereby securing the female mem# ber 14 to the llap 2, the cap or cover 2Q affording a'housing to the pomt 5 of the male member.

In the modification shown in Fig. 6, I have shown two of the attaching devices secured on a tag instead of but one, as it is oft times necessary to use more than one where the tag required is of very large dimensions in order to prevent the ends from curling.

The resiliency of the socket 19 is such as to render the attaching device being opened without inutilating the tag but is of sufficient contracting strength to securely secure the ineinb rs into `:ocking contact for the purpose for which it is intended.

Slight changes might be resorted to in the forni and arrangement of the several parts herein described'within the scope of the appended claims, without departing from the spirit and sco )e of my invention, hence I do not desire to llimit myself to the exact construction as herein set forth.

Having fully described my invention, what l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: y

1. A marking tag of the character described, composed of two flap ends, one of which is provided with a pointed stem having an annular shoulder thereon, the other flap being provided with means for engaging with the said shoulder on the stem in which the said stem is confined and housed when the ends of the tag are pressed together, substantially as described.

2. A Amarking tag of the character 'dcscribed, composed of two flap ends, one of which is provided with a pointed st ein, having an annular shoulder thereon and a head on the opposite end thereof, a disk provided with a central opening therein, and a plurality of slits opening thereinto, the said disk being secured over tie said stein and on the inner face of the said flap, the other flap end being provided with means for engaging with the said annular shoulder on the siem and in which the said stem is confined and housed when the ends of the tag are pressed together, substantially as described.

3. .X marking tag of the character described. composed of two fiap ends, one of which is provided with a pointed stein having an annular shoulder thereon, the other end being provided with a collapsible hollow cylindrical stein provided with an openi. g in the upper end and a circumferential tiange formed on the opposite end thereof, and a plurality of slits within the said cylindrical stem extending through the. said flange, a cap, adapted to be secured on the upper end of the said hollow cylindrical stem when the said stein is collapsed therein, the said flange end of the said stem adapted to engage with the annular shoulder on the first mentioned stem, whereby the said stem is retained and housed therein when the ends of the tag are ressed together, substantially as described. 4. The combination with a. marking tag of the character described, composed of a folded card having two flap ends and a. fasteuing device, of a pointed stem provided with an annular shoulder thereon, a head provided on the. opposite end of the said stem, a collasible hollow cylindrical stem having a circumferential flange. on one end thereof, and a )lurality of slits within the said stem exten( ing through the said flange, a cap secured on the opposite end thereof, substantially as described.

5. The combination in a tag of the character described, comprising two flap ends, of a male member provided with a pointed stem, having an annular shoulder thereon, a head provided on the opposite end thereof, and a female member com rising a hollow collapsible cylindrical stem, iaving a circumferential flange on one end thereof, means for securing the said members to the said flap ends, substantially as described.

6. The combination with a t-ag of the character described, comprising a folded card having two flap ends and a fastening device,

of a pointed stem provided with an annular shoulder thereon, a head provided on 'th'e opposite end of the said stem, means for securingr the said stem on one fla end, a collapsible hollow cylindrical stem liaving a circinnferential flange on one end thereof, and a pluralit) of slits within the said cylindrical stem extending through the said flange, a cap securing the said collapsed cylindrical stein on the other flap end and adapted to house the point of the first mentioned stem when the ends of the tag are pressed together, substaniially as described.
