The present invention re ates to improvements 1n condiment holders and more particularly to a combined salt and pepper shaker embodying novel mans for closing either the salt compartment or the pepper compartment.
To this end the invention resides principally in the provision of a receptacle formed with a plurality of compartments, each of the compartments being "provided with a perforated closure, and a swinging plate peculiarly mounted and formed so as to effectively close either set of perforationsf For a full description of the invention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction and the means for eifectingthe result, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in.which:

In the present instance the invention is shown as embodying a salt and epper shaker comprising a receptacle 1 with a salt compartment 2 and a pepper compartment 3. The mouths of the two compartments and3 are located adjiacent each other andv are closed by. a common cap 4. If found desirable as in the present instance this swinging plate may be provided with a finger-piece 14. :An opening 15 is formed in the neck 6 between the spaced cars 11 and extending over the opening under the arm 12 is a spring strip 16 the ends of which engage the outwardly pressed portion 7 of the disks 5 whereb the spring is held against accidental disp acement. The arm 12 ex tends slightly beyond the pivot point as mdicated at 17 and this extension 17 cooper ates with the spring strip 16 to hold the swinging plate 13 either extending outwardly so that both sets of the perforations 8 are uncovered or against either of the disks 5.
For the purpose of enabling the plate 13 to effectively close the perforations 8 the same is provided upon its opposite faces with projections 18 corresponding to the perforations and designed to enter the same when the plate is swung against the corresponding 1 disk.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A closure of the character described comprising a pair of perforated disks con nected by a neckhaving an opening therein, ears projecting from the said neck upon opposite sides of the opening, a spring strip extending across the opening and locatedbetween the ears, and a swinging closure pivotally mounted between the ears and provided with an extension engaging the sprlng which serves to hold the swinging closure against either of the disks.
