CARD-MOUNT.
Application led. June 16,
` Specification of Letters Patent.
1906. Serial No. 321,994.
Patented April '7, 1908.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that l, J AMES N. C. GRAHAM, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of borough of Brooklyn, Greater New York, N. Y., have invented certain improvements in Card-Mounts, of which the following is a specification. My invention relates to cards or card mounts for passe-partout structures, and the object of my invention is to provide a card mount designed and adapted to receive a picture or printed matter, with a removable calendar, picture, or other object to be shown through a transparent body covering the face of the structure; the card being so when the passe-partout is made the removable calendar or picture carried thereby will be covered by and viewed through the transp arent material, but at the same time will be readily accessible for the urpose of removal or rearrangement.
My invention is fully shown in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1, is a perspective iront view of my improved card mount made into a passeartout; Fig. 2, is a perspective rear view of the same; Fig. 3, is an enlarged vertical section, and Fig. 4, is a similar section of a portion of the structure, showing the manner in which the calendar pages are removed or pictures inserted.
1 represents a card having a mount of the ordinary type for a picture 2, and an opening 3 which may be disposed in any suitab e part of the card. The card 1 is backed with a card 4 somewhat heavier, which is also provided with an opening 5 which should register with the opening 3 oi the card 1. Hinge to the card 4 is a flap 6, which in this instance carries a calendar pad 7; the hinge employed beingpreferably a piece of muslin 8 which may e entered between the two cards, in the manner shown in Figs. 3 and 4,
i and glued in place.
The o emng 3 in the smaller t an the opening clearly indicated in Fig. 3, so that only the central portion of such calendar sheets w' be eX osed to view through the opening 3, the e ges of such sheets being hidden by the marginal portion of said o ening. flap 6 carrying said pad is held m'place by means oi a suitable catch 9 carried by the card 4,
card 1 is slightly 5 in the card 4, as
which may when it is desired to raise said one of the calendar sheets therefrom. By this means when the card mount Vis combinedwith a plate of glass or other transparpasse-partout, in the manner indicated in the drawing, the calendar is readily accessible for the removal of the expired sheets, or Jfor the insertion of a new pad, without in any way injuring or marring the passe-partout.
claim: l. A picture and calendar card comprising a mount having an aperture therein, a backing for said mount, means lfor securing the mount and backing together, said backing having an aperture registering with the aperture of the mount, a
be readily moved out of the way freely movable hinged flap carried by the backing Jfor closing its aperture, a tear-oil calendar pad carried by said ap and. disposed in the aperture of the backing and arranged to show through the aperture of the mount, and securing means carried by Said backing Jfor holding said ilap and calendar in place.
' 2. A picture card mount having an aperture therein, a backing for said mount, means for securing .said backing and mount together, said backing having an aperture registering with the aperture of the mount, a hinged flap carried by said backing and serving to close the aperture in the same, a calendar pad carried by said flap and disosed within the aperture of the backing and showing through the aperture of the mount, in combination with a plate of transarent material covering t e face oi sai( structure, said plate serving to protect the icture card mount and the calendar carried and the means co ning the edges of said mount and backing securing the backing having an aperture registering with the aperture of the mount, a
hinged nap for closing the aperture oi the backing, a tearrlap to tear tectingvsaid picture card mount and the name to this specification, in the presence calendar carried thlereby and through which of two subscribing Witnesses. said oa endar Ina e Vlewed, and means for confining the odg-gs of' sa1`d-mount and back- JAMES N C' GRAHAM 5 ing and securing said plate of transparentl Witnesses:
