To all whom 'it may concern.'

Be it known that I, JOHN DEMERIT, of Montpelier', in the county of Washington `and State of Vermont, have invented an Improvement in Razor-Strops; and I do hereby declare that the following is a clear, full, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference `being had to the accompanying drawings and letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in attaching the strop, at the ends, to the case containing it, in such a way that it will be suspended, and revolve, without the edges touching the case.

To enable others to make, and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction, and operation.

I make a strop of any of the known forms, and to one end I fasten a bearing made of wood, or metal, as shown at letter B in Figs. 3 and 4. I then construct an oblong box, as a case, sutlicient in length, Width, and depth to contain the strop suspended and allow it freely to revolve upon pivots, fastened to the ends of the strop and passing into the ends of the case. Within and to the bottom of the case is fastened a metallic spring, as shown at letters A, in Figs. l, 2

and 3. As is represented in Figs. 2 and the elastic spring A, pressing against the bearing B, holds the strop in a position to be used, one of its faces being upward, but will allow it to revolve when turned by the hand.

Vihat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The mode of attaching the strop to t-he case, so that it will not be soiled by the faces of it coming in contact with the case,

and so that it will revolve, as herein described., using for that purpose the aforesaid case, st-rop, bearing, spring, and pivots in combination.
