IN MOP-HEADS.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, A. BARNES, of Ashtabula, in the county of Ashtabula and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Mop- Head; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which represents the mop head and handle.
A represents the bow; B, a nut in which the ends ofthe bow are secured, and through which the screw 0 passes; D, a cross-piece, in which one end of the screw 0 is secured by riveting in such a manner that, although it cannot be drawn out, it revolves easily in the cross-piece. The ends of the cross-piece D are grooved or out out, so as to lit and slide easily upon the sides of the bow A, which form guides for the cross-piece. The other end of the screw 0 is firmly fixed in the handle E. The cross-piece being withdrawn the required distance from the bow by means of the screw attached to the the handle of the mop and turning it, and when the new cloth is replaced it is quickly secured by turning the handle in the opposite direction.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the screw 0 and crosspiece D in connection with the bow and nut, as herein described, for the purpose set forth.
