ATTORNEY WINIFRED E. SLOAN, OF SIOX CITY, IOWA.
COLLAPSIBLE WARMING-OVEN.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 31, 1907.
Application filed May 25. 1907. Serial No. 375.646.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WINIFRED E. SLOAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at SiouX City, in the county of Woodbury and State of Iowa, have invented new and useful Improvements in Collapsible Warming- Ovens, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to ovens, and the object of the invention is the provision of a collapsible warming oven pivotally supported above a stove or range in such manner that it may be drawn out over the stove when desired and pushed back into small Space when not in use. It is especially adapted for use in flats, buiiiet cars and` places where economy of space is the purpose of attainment.
I accomplish the desired object by the construction shown in the accompanying drawing in which Figure l is a perspective view of my invention showing the same supported upon a bracket over a section of a stove. Fig. 2 is a plan view oi the oven, the dotted line showing it partly collapsed.
In the drawing A is the oven composed of the usual pieces a, a, and a, a', which are hinged or pivoted at the corners and connected across the bottom by the flat cross pieces b, b', pivoted to the side pieces and to each other at the center. The oven has a top cover c, hinged at the rear and may be folded over the back of the oven when the oven is not in use and is collapsed. At the Yfront of the oven is a hinged door d, and the side pieces a', a', have cleats or strips e, e, 'for the support of shelves. The oven is open at the bottom except for the cross pieces. The cross piece b extends outward upon one side where it is rounded and turned upward. against the side of the oven to which the upper end is pivoted in an eye bolt i, forming a bracket h, for support of the oven. A clamp f, adjustably secured to the stove B supports a standard g, in which the bracket is supported. The oven may be adjusted to any desired height by moving the bracket in the standard and tightening the set screw 7L. The standard is adapted to turn in the clamp and may be Xed in any desired position by lthe screw f.
In the drawing the oven is shown set over the jets of a gas stove. When not in use the set screw f may be loosened and the oven pushed back to one side of' the stove after the removal of the shelves, the same motion which pushes the oven to one side collapsing it as seen in the dotted lines in Fig. 2. When the oven is pushed to one side it is collapsed by the motion of the hand and occupies less space.
The clamp supporting the standard may be secured to the stove at either side or at the back, according to the space most convenient for the oven to occupy. The bracket may also be secured to the opposite side of the oven at the opposite end of the cross piece or to the other cross piece without departing -from the spirit or purpose o'f the invention.
I-Iaving described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,-
In a warming oven, the combination of a collapsible frame jointed or hinged at the corners, cross-pieces at the bottom pivotally secured to the side pieces of the oven, a hinged cover adapted to fold over the back of the oven, a bracket formed from one of said cross pieces and pivotally secured to the side of the oven, and a standard for the support of the oven adapted to be secured to the stove and adjustably secured to the bracket, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specificati/on, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WINIFRED E. SLOAN.
