WILLIAM HARE, OF GALESBURG, ILLINOIS.
DENTAL ARTICULATOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 17, 1907.
Application filed July 1, 1907- Serial No. 381,667.
It is also an object of the invention to provide a novel device of this character whereby the upper plate will automatically separate from the lower plate.
Furthermore, an object of this invention is to produce a device of the character noted, which will possess advantages in points of simplicity, efliciency and durability, proving at the same time comparatively inexpensive to manufacture. 7
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully set forth and claimed.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanyingdrawings forming part of this specification wherein like characters denote corresponding parts in the several views, in which- Figure 1, is a view in perspective of the invention; Fig. 2, is a top plan view and Fig. 3,
a side elevation.
In the drawings 1, denotes the lower plate which may be of any appropriate size and shape having the rear vertical lugs 2, provided with the alining perforations 3, which are adapted to receive the pivot pin 4. This pivot pin 4, passes through the end of the plate 5, to which is secured the upper plate 6.
The rear portion of this upper plate 6, is
provided with an elongated slot 7, through which passes a securing screw 8. This upper plate is also provided with the transverse openings 9, through which the pin 10, passes. By this arrangement, the upper plate 6, may be adjusted longitudinally, the pin contacting with the screw 8, and thereby limiting the upper plate in any rearward movement that may be exerted thereon by the spring member 11, to be hereinafter referred to. The lower plate 1, is provided with the level ing screw 12, as in the ordinary structure.
Carried by the lugs 2, are the straps 13, which form guide-ways for the bar 14. This bar is provided intermediate its length with a hook 15, to which is secured one end of an elastic medium 16, the opposite end being secured to the inner end of the upper plate 6. By moving this bar 14, within its guides, the tension of this elastic medium 16 may be varied or adjusted. This elastic medium is for the purpose of automatically elevating the upper plate 6, as will, it is thought, be fully appreciated.
What I claim is:
1. In combination, a lower plate, an upper plate pivoted thereto, and elastic means connected to the upper plate and the lower plate for elevating the upper plate.
2. In combination, a lower plate, an upper plate pivoted thereto, an elastic means connected to the upper plate and the lower plate for elevating the upper plate, and means for adjusting the tension of the elastic means.
3. In combination, a lower plate, an upper plate pivoted thereto, a bar movably held. by the lower plate, and an elastic medium secured to the bar and to the upper plate to elevate the upper plate.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses this 29th day of June, 1907.
