The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part 0f the 55m6- Be it known that LEUGE L. FRAKER, of the city of Oshkosh, State of Wisconsin, have invented anew and useful Device for Splicing Rails of Picket-Fence; and Ido hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description of the construction 'of-the same, reference being'had tothe annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in Which- Figure l is a perspective view.

The endsof the rails are kerfed, the one so as to match the' other, and the two ends (asthus kerfed or mitred). are secured, with a. bolt, to a post, the bolts passing through the kerfed ends of the rails and post,

and the whole thus solidly secured,fas'seen in 4.

`By this means of splicing' and securing rails, a device is provided for constructing lfence in a uniform, convenient, and economical manner between corner-s, or between-a corner and a gate-post, and the whole forma straight and unbroken line between casings.

I disclaim themode'qf securing the rails to the post with wires, or with wires and nails, as set forth in the specifications of Conrad Seabaugll, Whereon a patent was heretofore issued, August 28, 1866.

What I claim4 as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters` Patent, isv Securing the horizontal rails a to the post 11, by .means of the bolt c, when the said rails are, spliced at their junction, substantially as shown, and for the purposes described.
