ANNA OLEVES, OF OMAHA, NEBRASKA.
ADJUSTABLE SKIRT-SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 10, 1907.
Application filed May 26. 1905. Serial No. 262,411.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known thatI, ANNA CLEVES, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Adjustable Skirt-Supporters.
In the accompanying drawing, I have shown in Figure 1, a view with portion removed of askirt supporter embodying my invention. Fig. 2 shows an edge view of one of the supporting members.
It is well known that it is at times diflicult to properly secure a skirt to a waist.
The aim of my invention is to provide a skirt supporter so arranged that the waist and skirt may be secured, the supporter being further adapted to receive a broad or narrow band, belt, or ribbon to cover and hide the union of the waist and skirt.
In carrying out my invention, I provide two similar members A, and B, preferably of sheet metal or other suitable material so arranged that these members may be pivotally adjusted. The member A,.has its ends a, bent so as to extend at right angles, as is shown in the figures, the ends terminating in Secured to the rear -curved ends a, are the projecting ears 3, which ears are adapted to work over the ordinary eyes 2, to hold the belt in position. The eyes 2, are provided with the attaching loops 1, which are secured to the skirt as shown. The member B, is also provided'with such projecting ears 3, under which the eyes 2, work as shown. Near the upper recurved end, the.
members A, and B, are provided with the eyes 4, while secured to the belt 00, are the hooks 5, adapted to hook over the end 4, as is shown in Fig. 1, so that the belt is secured to the 40 skirt supporting member A and B. From this it will be seen that the skirt 2, is provided with the eyes 2, under which the lower ears of the members A, and B, are inserted, while the belt is inserted between the members A, and B, and the recurved ends, the members A, and B, then being adjusted scissor fashion to correspond with the widthof the belt or ribbon to which the hooks 5 are secured so that the belt may be fastened to and between the upper skirt supporting member A, and B. From this arrangement, it will be noticed that the main portion of the members A, and B, appear cross-wise upon the outside and over the belt 00, as shown.
These skirt supporting members may be made of various sizes, and of any suitable material, and
Having thus described my said invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is.
In a device of the character described the combination of two similar fiat members preferably of sheet metal a pivot pin to pivotally unite said members crosswise, each member having its ends bent so as to extend ANNA CLEVES.
