HEINRICH JULIUS MULLER, OF SCHAFFHAUSEN, SWITZERLAND.
GONTRIVANCE FOR INSERTIN G LOOSE PACKETS OF TICKETS INTO TICKET- COMPARTMENTS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 26, 1907.
Application filed y 21. 1907. Serial No. 374.906.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRIcH JULIUS MI'JLLER, a citizen of Switzerland, residing in Schaffhausen, in the Canton of Schaflhausen, Republic of Switzerland, (whose postoffice address is 29 N eustadt, Schaffhausem) have invented a new and useful Contrivance for Inserting Loose Packets of Tickets into Ticket-Compartments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
I have applied for patent: in Switzerland 011 May 29th 1906, Patent No. 36763; in Germany on June 15th 1906, Patent No. 182130 in Austria-Hungary on February 23d, 1907.
The subject of the present invention is a contrivance for inserting loose packets of tickets into ticket compartments in an appreciably more rapid, secure and convenient manner than is available by the methods hitherto employed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is avertical section and Fig. 2 a horizontal section of apparatus constructed according to my invention.
(1 represents a holder, open'at the top and at the front, preferably made of thin material such as tin, whose width corresponds to the breadth of a ticket and whose depth only slightly exceed the length of a ticket. The holder is closed on the rear side by a partition through which is operated the stem 1) of a movable plunger 0. The furthermost surface of the plunger 0 is at an inclination to the vertical. Each side of the holder has an upward projection d which serves as an abutment against the ticket compartment lc, and a forward projection (1 so arranged as to engage with the compartment 7c; the object hereof being to guard against the disa'rrangement of the contrivance in a lateral direction.
In the sides of the holder is arranged a pin-' holder, and the other spring operates in a similar manner from the rear-end. The fore end of the base of the holder has a downwardly bent flange Z so arranged as to overlap the ticket stop or check against which the tickets when pushed into the compartment are pressed by means of the spring controlled projecting plate (not shown) placed in the compartment. Through a slit n along the bottom of the ticket-holder, passes a sliding guide secured to the plunger 0 and which overlaps the bottom of the holder in the nether side.
The packets of tickets e to be supplied to the ticket compartment 7c are inserted in the holder by drawing back the iston-rod I); whereupon the holder is placed in position as regards the flange Z and the ticket stop m, and similarly the projections d are brought into contact with the ticket compartment. The projections d are disposed to come on the inside of the walls of the ticket-compartment and the vertically tending plate f prevents the tickets, which have been inserted in an upright position in the holder, from falling over. The tickets are then pressed, by force applied to the knob of the piston rod, into the ticket compartment 7r; whereupon the spring-controlled projecting plate is thrust back towards and into the compartment. l/Vhen inserting the packet of tickets in the compartment, the plate f, engages un der the further end of the spring 71 and then raises the latter oil the tickets, so that the insertion can take place free from obstruction. l/Vhen releasing the contrivance from the compartment, as soon as the pressure of the piston-rod on the tickets ceases, the latter fall to the bottom of. the compartment under the influence of gravity augmented by spring pressure. Upon withdrawal of the piston rod the plate f swings likewise backwards and then forwards into the vertical. The contrivance is now ready for the reception of a fresh packet or packets.
What I claim is:
A contrivance for inserting loose packets of tickets in ticket compartments, comprising a holder adapted for receiving packets of tickets and provided with a plunger for thrusting same into a ticket compartment,
projections for bringing the holder in front of the compartment and projections to prevent lateral displacement of the holder and a spring-controlledplate hinged to the holder 5 for releasing the tickets when thrust into the compartment, from the pressure of a spring disposed in the compartment the said plate being arranged to swing back into a vertical position upon the withdrawal of the plunger.-
In testimony whereof, I have signed my 10 name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HEINRICH JULIUS MULLER. Witnesses:
S. N. REIss, THEODORE F. DWIGHT.
