JOHN KEMMETER, OF ALLOUEZ, WISCONSIN.
DRAPERY-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 24, 1907.
Application filed February 9, 1907. Serial No. 356,564-
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OHN KEMMETER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the town of Allonez, in
the county of Brown and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Drapery-Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
The invention consists in what is herein shown, described and claimed; its object being to provide simple, economical devices especially designed for holding paper, oil-cloth or other drapery material in connection with shelves.
Figure 1 of the accompanying drawings represents a transverse sectional view of a fragment of a shelf and drapery material fastened in connection with the same by a holder in accordance with my invention, this holder being partly in section; Fig. 2, a front elevation of what is shown in Fig. l, and Fig. 3, a perspective view of the holder aforesaid.
Referring by letter to the drawings, A indicates a fragment of a shelf, B a drapery on the same and O a holder for fastening said drapery to said shelf. The holder is a primarily flat strip of pliable metal tapered to a point and having a triangular inner prong I) struck out therefrom at a rightangle thereto adjacent tothe wide end of same.
In practice, the point end of the holder is pushed through the vertically depending portion of the drapery and a portion of said holder extended under the adjacent shelf parallel thereto. The remainder of the holder is then bent to conform to the contour of the edge of the shelf and extend parallel with the top of same into which the prong b of said holder is driven.
As many of the holders as may be necessary will be utilized to secure a drapery to a shelf, it being intended to market said holders in packages each containing a predetermined number of the devices, and these devices are of any suitable metal plain or ornamented, enameled or plated according to the demands of the trade.
I claim:
A shelf, in combination with a drapery, and a draperyholder having the form of a strip of pliable metal tapered to a point and provided with an integral prong at a rightangle to one side of same adjacent to its widest end, a portion of the holder being extended through the drapery parallel to the underside of the shelf, the remainder bent on said drapery and shelf and the prong of said holder embedded in the aforesaid drapery and shelf from above the same.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand at Green Bay in the county of Brown and State of Wisconsin in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN KEMMETER.
Witnesses GEo. B. MAGIN, E. H. STERN.
