Description

(No Model.)
DRAWER PULL. V
Pai zented Nov. 27, 1883 UNITED STATES PATE T OFFICE.
FERDINAND FRANK, OF SUISUN, CALIFORNIA.
DRAWER-PULL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No; 289,245, dated November 27, 1883. Application filed August 4, 1883. (N6 model.)
To ctZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FERDINAND FRANK, of Suisun, in the county of Solano and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Box-Pulls; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,
. the purpose of affording a convenient handle for withdrawing them from shelves.
With this object in View myinvention consists of a strip of sheet metal, having one or more prongs adapted to be passed through one face of the box to which it is to be applied, and to be bent against the inside thereof.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View of a box provided with a pull constructed in accordance with my in vention. Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof. Fig. 3 is a view showing another manner of securing my improved device in position; and Fig. 4 represents several modified forms which my invention may assume.
A represents the handle, provided with the prongs b. In adapting the same to use the prongs b are passed through the bottom of the box and turned down againstthe same, leaving the handle A projecting from the end of the box. as shown in Fig. 1.
When desired, the form of construction may vary. For use on large boxes or drawers, or boxes of strong material, I employ a pull con sisting of handle A, with the prong cl, as shown in Fig. 2.
My device can also be fastened to the front end of a box or drawer. A pull designed principally for this purpose is shown in Fig. 3. It consists of a metallic strip having a handle, A, and prongs B, the same being cut so as to form intermediate shoulders, e, which latter limit the penetration of the prongs. In attaching this device I pass the prongs B through the front end of a box or drawer. and secure it therein by bending them in opposite directions, thus forming a strong and suffi-' cient hold. to prevent the handle from entering the box.
My improved drawer-pull is cheap, ornamental, and durable. It is adapted to be easily and securely attached to a box or drawer, and it can be utilized more than once, as it may readily be removed from one box and attached to another.
I do not confine. myself to any particular form of construction, as the handle may be crimped or perforated to afford a better hold than that offered by a smooth handle; It may also be cut in various shapes and forms for ornamental purposes. The handle may be covered with cloth, paper, or any other desired material.
I am aware that metallic fasteners have been made of sheet metal with two prongs, located at right angles to the head of the fastener. I am also aware that suspension rings have been made with attaching prongs, and hence I make no claim to such improvements.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination, with a box, of a box-pull made from sheet metal, and consisting of the The function of the shoulders eis broad handle portion A, having prongs that I FERDINAND FRANK.
