Be it known tholt I, Amen-'1 lYiAY .Ruonns, residing at Houston, Texas, have invented show and useful ,lmprovement in Folding Paper Boxes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact decription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled inthe'art to which it sppertains to mak a d use the same.

My invention relates to improvements in folding paper boxes, and the object of my invention is to out at blenlc from a single piece of suitable niateri-id, slch as cardbom'ch'whieh blank may be folded up and fastened into the form of a box without the use of any separate cover. I

The blind; is cut at one feed or impression from a. solid sheet of cardboard by setting steel rules in the form of the press, and the blank is also scored and eye leted at the same time, small punches. being used to ,make the eyelets.

In the blank shown in Fig. l, 1 represents half of the lid of the box providird with lid flanges 2 and ill separated from the main pint .by weakened lines or scores.

Alter'the cord has been passed through the eyelets the blank is ready to be set up to form a complete box. By pulling the ends of the cord the ends 6 and 14-wil1 fold up on the scores 17, the sides 3 and 9 will fold up on the scores 18 and 20, the laps 4 and 1-5 will fold up on the scores 17 outside of the ends 6 and 14-, and then the laps 8 and 13 will fold up on the scores 17 outside of the ends (5 and 14 slightly overlapping the laps 4 and. 15. The box is then ready to have articles packed into it, the two halves of the lid 1 and ll standing upright.

After packing the box the halves of the lid are forced down on the scores 19 and 21, the lid flanges 2, 1G and 12 being folded in, the lid flanges litting between the laps 4 and 8 and end 6 on one end of the box and be tween the laps l3 and and end 14 on the other end of the box, the be); being then closed and complete, as shown in Fig. l. i

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by- Letters Patent ol' the 7 United States, is:
