To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK J. MoCoaMAoK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of \Visconsi n, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toys; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

My invention has for its object to provide a toy, combining an inflatable balloon and blow-pipe, in such a manner as to simulate the blowing of soap bubbles, and it consists in certain peculiarities of construction and combination of parts in the said toy as fully set forth hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawing and subsequently The drawing represents an elevation of a with arts roken away and in section to better il ustrate the invention.

Referring by numerals to said drawing, 1 indicates an inflatablecolored bulb composed of thin rubber such as that used for toy balloons or the like, the body of the bulb being preferably spherical, and as shown, is also provided with a head 2, together with arms and legs 3 of any light llexible material sohuman form.

The bottom of the bulb is provided with an air-inlet neck 4, which is fitted over a valve casing 5, having a depending tapered valve seat 6, in which rests a conical valve-plug 7 of any suitable substance, such as rubber or the like. This plug is held to its seat by. a [lat spiral-spring section 5 that is beaded into the valve-casing, having its free end adapted to rest upon the top of said plug.

The tapered valve-seat 6 is designed to be inserted into a tubular extension 9 of a pipestem 10, which stein together with a pipebowl 11 is preferably com osed of stiff cardboard, the top of the bowl eing covered by a the mouth of the tubular extension 8 of said pipe-stem.

\Vhile l have shown and described a bulb in imitation of a fanciful human form, it is understood that this may be varied indefi- 5o nitely, and that 1 may in some instances substitute, if desired, a pipe of ordinary form and material, for that shown without departing from the spirit of my invention.

In operating the toy; the bulb is first inllated through the valve-casing by blowing into the neck, which causes the valve-plug to lift, and when inllated this p ug serves to hold the air against escape for a considerable length of time. The bulb is then placed over the pipe-bowl with the tapered valveseat 6 inserted into the opening of the pipe stem extension, and when the operator blows into the pipe, it will cause the bulb to rise therefrom and .lloat through the air until gravity causes it to settle, it being then caught upon the pipe when the operation is repeated, thusdorming a source of amuse ment similar to blowing soap-bubbles with out its consequen't damage by water to the clothing of juveniles.

I claim:

1. The herein described combination toy, consisting of a blow-pipe, and an inllatable bulb having a tapered extension provided with a valvem)utrolled opening, and adapt,- ed to enter the blow-pipe bowl.

2. The herein described toy consisting of a bulb having an inllating neck, a valve-casing having a tapered valve-seat extension, and a valve fitted in the valve-seat; in combination with a blow-pipe provided with an opening at its bowl for the reception ol the tapered valve-seat extension.
