To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FREDERICK H. LoHRs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Elizabeth, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fixtures for Lamp-Chimneys and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to a device that is arranged to be slid over the top of lamp chimneys, or chimneys from any illuminating or heating fixture, and is designed to provide an easily removed and quickly attachable structure, made of sheet metal, that will not cause the flame to smoke, and that will allow a ready heating in a small utensil which can be placed thereon.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device, of this kind, that has spring arms arranged to grasp the top of a lamp chimney, or similar structure, and to provide these spring arms with a shoulder to allow a space for the escape of heat and smoke and gases between the top of the lamp chimney and the horizontal portion of the plate.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side view of the device, show ing a cup thereon in dotted outline, the lamp chii'nncy also being shown dotted. Fig. 2 is "a bottom view of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a section on line 3, 3, in Fig. 2.

The device comprises a metallic plate 10, which is made flat on the top, and has struck down. from its edges a suitable number, preferably three, ribs 11. These ribs 11, on their ends, are split to form a series of spring arms,

and I show, in the illustration, three spring arms on each lip, the outside arms 12 being arranged to fit over the outside of the lamp chimney, and the center spring arm 13 is bent up to form a shoulder 14, this shoulder acting to remove the spring arm 13 back from the s ring arms 12, the approximate distance of the thickness of the lamp chimney, and the shoulder acting to receive the top edge of the lamp chimney to limit the movement of the device and to sup ort it. This shoulder thus leaves a space lietween the top edge of the lamp chimney and the plate 10, so that the flame in the lamp does not become smoky,

due to the ready escape of the products of I prefer to make the plate with perforations 15, both for utility, causing a ready heating, to lighten the structure, and also as an ornamentation. The spring arms might be reversed as to their inward and outward inclinations, this being simply a matter of choice.

Having thus described my invention, what claim is A device of the kind described, comprising a perforated plate having ribs bent down from its edges, spring arms formed on the ends of the ribs, some of the spring arms being adapted to engage the outside of a lamp chimney, the remaining spring arms being arranged to engage the inside of the lam chimney, the spring arms on one side of the I lamp chimney being provided with a shoulder to rest on the top edge of the lamp chimney.
