The invention relates to an improvement in advertising holders designed primarily for ready and convenient application to street car straps or similar devices and adapted when in position to removably support a card bearing desired 'advertising data.

The main object of the present invention resides in the production of a holder of the class described constructed of sheet metal and formed to permit its ready attachment to or disengagement from the strap.

The invention will be described in the fol-- lowing specification, reference being had particularly to the accompanying drawings, in v which'- Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a holder constructed in accordance with vmy invention, Fig. 2 is a view in rear elevation of the holder and strap. Referring particularly to the drawings my holder is constructed of a single stri of sheet metal ol t desired size, as 1, the owerand side edges of which are formed in return bends to provide flanges 2 extending parallel with and spaced from the base 1 of the holder. The holding flanges are coextensive with the side and bottom'edges of the the advertising card to malntain the same in relatively fixed relation to the holder. The ulpper edge of the holder is, ofcourse, free of t e retaining fiange to provide for the ready insertion of the cards, and if desiredv the fianges may be so spaced from the base of the holder as to permit the insertion of any-desired number of cards at one time, so that in changing the advertisement it will be only necessary to Withdraw the outermost cards.

The means by which the holder is secured to the stra is preferably formed integral with the ho der, and is arranged in duplicate in alinement longitudinally of the holder andvwl equally spaced aboveandbelow the trans'- verse center, as clearly shown in Fig. 1.

By preference the respective tongues of the holding means project in opposite directions, that is lthe connections between said tongues and tlie body of the holder are arranged on opposite sides of the longitudinal center of the holder, so that the free end of one tongue is alined with the 'connected end of the adjacent tongue. FurL thermore, the triangular tongue is in the nature of a right angle triangle with 'the hypotenuse of each tongue extending in parallel relation and adjacent the hypotenuse of the other tongue. The extreme upper and lower edges of the two tongues considered as a single fastening means are therefore at right angles to the length of the holder, and in consequence at right angles to the length of the strap. The tongues 5 of each'respective fastening means are s aced a slight distance apart longitudinal yof the holder, thereby providing a strip 6 bounded on its upper and lower edges by the hypotheni of the triangular cuts, so that the strip extends diagonally across the holder. The triangular cuts 3 and 4 are preferably so formed as to leave roughened edges on the holder and on the tongues.

In use the strap 7 is placed longitudinally of the vholder and in rear thereof in contact with the body, the tongues 5 having been bent in reverse directions to permit the insertion of the strap therebetween. After placing the strap in position the tongues are bent to embrace the strap in rear thereof, the roughend edges of said tongues and of the openings and strips 6 aiding materially in providing a comparatively secure fastening The tongues 5 are preferably of greater length than the Width of the strap, so as to permit'the free ends of said tongues to embrace one side edge of the strap,

It will be noted' that by the improved fastening vdescribed the forward face of the .holder is free of obstruction permitting'the ready insertion and withdrawal of the cards when desired.
