Specification of Letters Patent.

To a/ZZ whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, ALFRED A BOISMAURE, a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State oi' New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Jewel- Mountings, of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The object of this invention is to provide an improved mounting for jewels or other ornaments comprising a stationary attaching member and a vibratory member connected therewith by a vibratory spring in such manner that the vibratory member with which, in practice, the jewel or ornament is connected is in a constant state of vibration.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of' my improvement are designated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a front view of a jewel mounting made according to my invention Fig. 2 a section on the line 2 2 of Fig. l Fig. 3 a section on the lineS-S of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 a view similar to Fig. 2 but showing a modification; Fig. 5 a section on the line 5 5 of Fig. 4. In the accompanying drawing I have shown myinvention applied to what is known as an ordinary scarf pin, and in the practice of my invention as shown in Figs. l, 2 and 3 I provide an outer frame member a with which, in practice, is connected a pin b, the pin b being connected with one side of the outer frame member a by means of inwardly curved arms b2. Extending diametrically across the outer frame member a, which in the construction shown is circular in form, is a thin resilient and vibratory spring c with which is connected a central vibratory member d with which in practice a jewel or other ornament is connected in the usual manner, said jewel or other ornament being shown in Fig. 2. The central vibratory member d is provided centrally of one side with a post,
pin or stud d2 in the end of which the spring c is secured. I/Vith this construction the member d will be kept in a constant state of vibration, the spring c being very iine, and even if the device is held in the hand the part d will vibrate and the jewel or other ornament connected therewith will also be constantly vibrated and a very attractive effect will be produced In Figs. 1, 2, and 3 inclusive the central vibratory member while arranged concentrically with reference to the outer frame member a is not in the same plane therewith, but in Figs. 4 and 5 I have shown a modification in which the central vibratory member d is in the same plane as the outer frame member a, this result being accomplished by forming in the inner side of the central vibratory member a transverse recess e through which the spring c passes.
In Figs. 1 to 5 inclusive the central vibratory member consists of a disk or other solid body, but in Figs. 6 and 7 I have shown a modification in which the central vibratory member d is ring-shaped in form and provided with a central spider f having a backwardly directed pin f 2 which forms a connection for the spring c.
In Figs. 8 and 9 I have shown another modification in which the pin t is secured to the central member d and in which the outer frame member a is the vibratory member. In this form of construction the inner member d is also ring-shaped in form and is provided with a central spider g having a central pin and the opposite sides thereof are provided with openings z, and the spring c is passed through said openings and secured to the spider g, the ends of said spring being also secured to the outer member a. I/Vith this form of construction, the outer frame member a is a vibratory member and the jewel or other ornament is secured thereto in the usual manner, and said outer frame member a with the jewel or other ornament connected therewith, when the pin is secured to a garment or other article, will be held in a constant state of vibration.
Although I have shown my invention applied to a scarf or similar pin it will be apparent that the same may be applied to a iinger ring or to a pin of any class, or to any ornament or jewel mounting in which an outer frame and an inner concentric mem- IOO i ber may be employed, said members being connected by a spring secured to the outer frame member and centrally to the inner central concentric member.
Although the central concentric member d, in the forni of construction shown in Figs. 8 and 9, is ring-shaped inform, it will be apparent that the same may be solid or disk shaped in -form if desired, as shown in Figs. l to 5 inclusive; and although both the inner and outer members of my improved jewel mounting are circular in form in the construction shown in the drawing, it will be apparent that the same may be angular in form, elliptical in form, or of any desired shape.
Having fully describedmy invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A jewel mounting comprising an outer frame member and an inner concentric member, said members being connected by a vibratory spring which extends diametrically across the outer frame member and both ends of which are secured thereto, said spring 4being also secured centrally to the inner concentric member.
2. A jewel mounting comprising an outer frame member and an inner concentric member, said members being connected by a vibratory spring which extends .diametrically across the outer frame member andy both ends of which are secured thereto, said spring being also secured centrally to the inner concentric member, and said concentric member and other frame member being in diiiierent planes.
3. A ewel mounting composed of an outer frame member and a central concentric member, a vibratory spring extending diametrically across the outer frame member f and the opposite ends oic which are secured thereto, said spring being also secured centrally to the inner concentric member, and
one of said members being provided with an attachingdevice.
4. A jewel mounting comprising an outer 'frame member and an inner concentric member, said members being connected by a spring which extends diainetrically across the outer frame member and is secured thereto at both ends, the central concentric member being secured centrally to said spring.
5. A jewel mounting consisting of an outer frame member and fa central concentric member, both of said members being ringshaped inform, said members being also connected by a spring arranged diametrically ci the outer frame member and the opposite ends of which are secured thereto, said spring being also secured centrally to the inner concentric member.
6. A jewel mounting consisting of an outer frame member andv a central concentric member,both of saidmembers being ringshaped in form, said members being also connected by a spring arranged diametrically of the outer 'frame member and the opposite ends of which are secured thereto, said spring l being also secured centrally to the inner concentric member, and one of said members being also provided` with an attaching device. f
